Thanks!

I didn't forget about this btw, I've been diligent with the exception of ordering the decals, which is what we're waiting on now. Construction and primary painting is done, I just need the flippin' decals.

Pics to follow once those arrive, as it should be about done at that point.

Well, I almost managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on this one. Joffre has been done for a while, just needed decals and overcoat, and yet somehow, it just languished for weeks.  I even put a few little sailors and some flight crew running about to make it look a little more active, but that last bit, just took forever. Well, that's sorted, so here are the final pics.

You can almost see the French flag on the fins of the Salmon. Man I love it when I do work that tiny and then it's basically hidden.  :banghead:

Great result! Really like the fighters and the concept. Maybe smaller single or dual main mounts might balance things a bit more, but great job! Love small deck VTOL projects.

I almost went with 3" singles, but I was inspired by the waist mounts on the Mogami. I figured they added a sort of Dumbo ear flair to the ship.  :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

I've probably asked/ been told a dozen times, but what are the wee figures again ? I need to order myself some and get on with it !

Sorry I missed your question Cap, they are a mix of 1/700 Eduard Aircraft Carrier flight crew and Naval Figures; specifically, these two sets:

Those were used for the sailors in white and blue as they looked the most like French Naval uniforms post WW2.

And these were used because every naval aviation country uses the same format of colored tops for air crew. I even divided them up specifically based on which part of the process they were in on the deck, because I'm crazy.

Thanks for the kind words guys, this one was a lot of fun.

Turned out great!  I remember playing with some of the Sea Kings as a kid (there's a good chance this was one of them).
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A French ship of the period would probably have had twin 57mm Bofors in French pattern turrets, but I've no idea where you'd get models of them. In any case, your backstory is such that it might have been a case of using what was easily available.

Maybe from the Battleships Trumpter put out, but that's about it. And yeah, my backstory is that the 3" was available, and might appeal as then the ship isn't entirely French, so might garner international orders. (Same applies to the very American radars, heh.)
