i believe when Fleet Requirements and Air Direction Unit (FRADU) was given over to the civies they looked at replacing the hunters they were using with starfighters to act as real maned missiles for training, but went with hawks instead because of the flying costs

Second that - very nice, And the simple paint scheme suits the Starfighter well. Looks better than the (similar) German Marineflieger scheme.
