Another one finished.  I seem to have slipped into the habit of batch processing...

Cessna O-1 Bird Dog.

Part of the zenrat industries air fleet this aircraft is thought to be used for general purpose communication's duties within the zi organisation.  It has been reported at many locations in the PDRV and appears on more than one occasion to have inadvertently strayed across the border into Greater Eastern Australia.
Purportedly civilian and thus unarmed it is not known why it appears to carry racks for the fitment of external stores under the wings.

The model:
Airfix Cessna Bird Dog built OOB.  It's a nice little kit and almost fell together.  Only issue was ejector pin marks on the wing struts which meant I replaced them with lengths of styrene rod.
Paint is silver car paint with stripes in Vallejo acrylic and acrylic clear.  Decals are home made.

Very smart indeed, and nicely modelled too. That Airfix O-1 is a neat bit of moulding and you've more than done it justice.

From what I read the underwing racks were to re-stock the outer area PDRV Border Guards with supplies of Fosters or Castlemaine XXXX when it got warmer in the region.

You mean they were stealing BEER from the Queenslanders! :o

Considering they hijacked a Tsingtoan research vessel, nothing surprises me coming from those pirates.  ;D

As you imply there are many types of "luggage" one might wish to be carrying should one accidentally stray close to a sensitive cross border location...

Do you know why they call it XXXX?  Because Queenslanders can't spell beer... ;D

Thanks guys.  It really did slot together with no problems.  Only filler needed was a little smear on the top of the nose and under the tail to hide the seam from the fuselage joint.
While putting it together I remembered building one as a child.  Using tube glue and having no patience it was a failure when the undercarriage legs collapsed.

Can't make it either having tasted that **** once  ;)

Nice model mate
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

lovely Birddog : it is a very light and delicate plane

Gorgeous work Fred! A fine addition to the ZI fleet. I love the finish!

Very nice bird you built there Fred, it looks right in those colours. I would have no doubt, snapped those landing gear struts in to several pieces making one though

Kidnapped?  You couldn't be more wrong.  Upon learning of the benefits of life in the beautifull Socialist utopia that is the PDRV the entire crew sought political asylum offering their "research*" as evidence of their good faith.

Chris - the undercarriage struts were the last parts I glued on as I had a similar concern.

What's Minke??

This one?

You'd need  A LOT of ketchup (and Chablis). :o
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Yes, that one.  I was referencing the type of scientific research the japanese whaling fleet carries out.

Why would they be drinking the enemy's beer when their own nation supplies superior (Cough! Cough!) Victoria Bitter and Carlton?   ;D ;D

Strictly speaking Fosters is Victorian.  It's just that we prefer to inflict it on export it to the rest of the world as it tastes like piss is such a fine example of our brewing skills.

As they say.  Why do Australian's drink their beer so cold?
Because otherwise they can taste it...

Personally my tastes go to VB, Crown Lager  or a local boutique brew from one of the many small breweries that have sprung up in small industrial units scattered across the Mornington Peninsula.  But only when suitably chilled.
