Wasn't it more of a care of the Brabazon going down the runway in a straight line until the curvature of the earth meant that it was airborne

I was lucky enough to get to most of those Farnborough Shows, and while the Brabazon struck me as 'just a big aeroplane' at age 7, the Saro Princess was SERIOUSLY impressive a year or so later! It was as if the world was passing by the aircraft rather than the other way round.
