Modern biplanes and tandem wings

I've been reading Chris Gibson ' The Admiralty and AEW'. On page 40 there is an interesting drawing of BAe's original Sidetrack system which uses a staggered wing that are joined by large end-plates carrying a phased-array antennae.
I have been experimenting in moving lower wings to shoulder height without success, but with the biplane type of wing or staggered wing the door opens for some odd looking Whiffs. The upper wing could carry additional weapons if applied to fighter aircraft.

The next stage in my opinion would be the closed wing or ring wing.
These aren't new concepts but with modern materials could enter service in the airline world.
However whiffing one isn't going to be easy as the plastic has to be able to bend upwards unless you go the scratch built option.
Vacform might be easier as a material to work with.
To droop the wing weight is added and left over a period of time. So in theory this should work the other way round

I've often wondered why Lockheed chose that design as there were better concept models to choose from for the F-104..
