The Big one! The What if SIG has its usual 12 foot/ double depth booked for the "Nationals"

Due to the numbers expected to attend. a two models per member limit will need to be in operation. The occasional exception may be permitted at my (the sig leaders) discreation. Gifts, bribes, kickbacks may be considered ;) ;D ;D ;D :police: :police: (only kidding)

In the first instance the sig stand is for the use of ipms members who are also sig members. If there is space available after the needs of the SIG membership has been satisfied then I may agree to allow ipms members who have not joined the sig to make use our space.

Non ipms members are without exception restricted to the times the event is open to the public. They have no right to free entry and no access to the event during setup, breakdown or other members only times.

I have booked a hotel and time off work so I should be there!  ;D

PR19_Kit

I'll be there as usual, life wouldn't be complete without Telford.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The Chaos

I wish everyone at the show a lot of fun, I will this year not attend to it, which has a number of reasons.

The floor plans are finally up What If and Project Cancelled SIGs are in Hall 3 this year in a similar spot to where they were last time in the hall, so dress warm and wear comfy shoes as it feels like you tend to walk more when based in that hall.

Have a good time those who are going, would love to be there but with first the caring at home for my terminally ill elderly father these last 7 months and then his passing away last month I simply am not in the right frame of mind to enjoy the show to its full.
Yes I will miss the show, yes I will miss catching up with friends and acquaintances, I will miss the builds, the model news and of course the stash additions and restocking of especially the new and unusual items we rarely see, but I would also miss my dad and that would spoil the show enjoyment and make it awkward for friends around me so better to avoid and make up for it next year instead. I have purposely made arrangements to see an old friend that weekend to keep me preoccupied and stop spur of the moment change of minds (much to the relief of the wallets of those who trigger an EKFG hunt or are susceptible to a suggestion ). I do however wish to be informed on if and what Airfix surprise us with this year of course  ;).

The Wooksta!

Well, the bad news is we're not in the same hall as Collectakit or Tyneside, but as the latter is a stone's throw from the former, then I'm not too unhappy.  The good news is that we're right next to Eduard, which is nice, especially if they have some overtrees for the Spitfire mk IXe...

I'll be sorry not to see you there, Geoff, but understand where you're coming from.

So are we in for another round of inexperienced lorry drivers threatening to run over the stand?

I know what you're saying Geoff. Take care of yourself first and we'll see you at other shows. If there is anything you want at SMW let us know and we can look out for you.

There doesn't appear to be any hardware this year which may make it a bit easier in Hall 3, its position means however that you guys will be doing a lot of walking to see the majority of the stands and traders in the other halls, but are closer to the refreshment area. One aspect to remember is unloading for Hall3 is very limited and parking generally reserved for traders and its even worse on Sunday with the strip down as getting a car to the hall 3 roller shutter will be a very awkward exercise, so that's means crossing all three halls to the main roller shutter and up into the car park or through to the foyer and up the stairs to the front car park which may be available if centre security are not being arseholes as they usually are by stopping people using the nearest exits !!!.

Might be an idea to work together guys, take away Saturday buys and store in the car/hotel Saturday night, and Sunday take most of your buys and personal items back to the car during the afternoon leaving just the display models and the stand to pack up and move out. I know we all work together to strip down the stands and help each other load up to get away so that's business as usual, but remember it will take a lot longer to get to the car park and back again so be patient if waiting for a hand as its likely to be a tiring exercise after a long and draining weekend.

Cheers Nick, it can happen to any of us and we all deal with it in different ways, I'm generally OK, that's why I did Glasgow last weekend as chance to stay with close friends and get back in the scene again, although brain storming seemed a little subdued this time around, everybody probably still focused on SMW next month  ;D.

I'm actually drifting back onto ships again at the moment and have been prepping for Carrier and FAA aircraft builds, so not too much I'm looking for from SMW this year, Martin and Chris P know my tastes as I know theirs, so they will no doubt keep an eye open and lets us know or even pick up something of specific interest that they spot. Of course I will be looking forward to the latest news from Airfix and what surprises Colin has lined up along with the others like S & M.

Martin should hopefully have a surprise that I have instigated and was working with Joe and Martin on this weekend which will delay the ship building and may appeal to one or two of you guys  ;D
