Shame.  I was looking for one the other day as I remember glue bombing one as a kid.
Surely there are plenty around for them to measure...

I've the Airfix Gazelle starter set, it was hard to find about a year ago, and i bought it because i saw this scratch-built conversion on Britmodeller.

But i'm not sure if i have the skills to do a presentable job on such a small scale, the 1/32 Monogram kit puts that idea away for me, unless there was such a conversion set.
Although i believe it would be for a niche market, probably not popular enough to justify the work, but i'd buy it for sure...

Engine conversion sets. I have seen Jumo 222 conversions in 1/48 but not 1/72. I do realise it may be a limited market but if your the only game in town.....

The company is 'Maintrack' but I don't know if they are still in production or who bought the moldings.

Hi everyone, I thought this thread had died, I'm glad it didn't! I'll give you a bit of an EXCLUSIVE, late last year I acquired all the ex-Maintrack KC/RC/EC/NKC-135 masters from Rodger Evans at Whirlybird, in exchange for some helicopter masters. I planned to re-issue them this year, but Italeri discontinued the base kit which put a spanner in the works! Some will come out by Telford (most likely KC-135A derived sets as the A base kit is fairly readily available), and some new sets will come to. The masters themselves are fairly fragile (mostly Milliput and plastic card) so copies need to be cast to re-work as sub-masters. The shapes are sound but details are lacking so new parts be added to some sets, and decals to.

OGL will be pleased, he's got quite a collection of the various AMT/Italeri C-135 versions.

AMTech do a 1/72 copy of the EC-135E/N Snoopy. Its a bad kit, the fuselage halves are warped, the wings are better and the undercarriage legs are a bit on the heavy side.
Heller do the Boeing 707 and you can still find examples of the E-3. Okay so it's a different beast than the C-135 but makes a good donor kit.

I've also tried using these parts on other kits, the flying boom works well on the Constellation and HS/BAe Nimrod. The RC-135 V cheek pods work well on the HS/BAe Nimrod and E-3 Sentry especially if you are whiffing the Condor.

Is there a Fritz-X conversion for the Italeri 1/72 Do 217?
Or also for the Do 217 - an extended wing/DB 603 kit?

I recall that - way back in the last century - there was a K-nose conversion kit for the Airfix Do 217E..

I like the under-rated Do 217, probably the best performing regular 'medium bomber' of WW2.

I guess I could try & get hold of the night-fighter version & swap engines with the bomber's BMW 801's.

Does anyone know why the BMW was built as a 'power egg' ( as per the Merlin/Hercules for Beaufighter/Lancaster) but the DB 603 wasn't?
The Do 217, Me 410, & He 219 all had individual & very different installations.. ( & why did the Do 217 get a 4-blade prop, but the others didn't?)

Speaking of recce, how about doing some of the other recce pods? The UK Phantom EMI pod is probably too specialised (I'll be amazed if Airfix don't put one in the box when they inevitably do an FGR.1). The Jaguar one would be good, and so would the smaller Vinten pods that are used by a wide variety of air forces on a wide variety of aircraft.
