Hi chaps,

Been a while since I had anything new out, day job pressure and all, but with Telford fast approaching it would be rude of me not to bring something new to the show, so.....

I'm looking for conversion suggestions, something not too complicated as I only have about a month to get the patterns sorted. Ideally a British project in 1/72, but open to options. WWII or post-war seem the most popular, If it goes with a new base kit that is not too expensive to start with that also helps. I can include decals if I pull my finger out, so post suggestions here and help me out and I will hopefully have it ready for November.

Thanks!

Colin

OK Colin, while I do not have any definite ideas, do you have any thoughts for the forthcoming AZ Models Martin Baker MB-5.
I have two pre-ordered for Telford and I have plans for both, but if you can improve on Israeli and HF recon machines I would love to hear of them.

You did the nose fir the FROG Javelin FAW9, how about non-afterburner jet pipes for other long-nose Javelins?

Or a replacement nose for the FROG Sea Vixen?

Or a replacement nose for the FROG Sea Venom?

Or a Vampire NF10 conversion for the Airfix T11?

I was thinking there may be some mileage in an MB-6 conversion if the MB-5 wings are the same, but probably not enough time to get ready for Telford.

Might be something worth looking at for the Javelin non-afterburning tailpipes, thanks for the suggestion. NF.10 Vampire requires a new canopy which takes longer to get mastered.

Hi Colin,
Would it be possible to do the Grumman Hawkeye rotodome and it's base in 1/72 scale?
Also the Ericsson Erieye radar.
Possibly a conversion set for the Short Sunderland to the Sandringham.
There's a fault in the Revell 1/72 A400M Grizzly/Atlas that could be addressed, perhaps a correction kit.
Rolls-Royce Griffon engines with the correct propellers.

Many thanks,

One of those wierd 'thought I posted it but it didn't apeear' type posts!

Not for Telford (and expensive base kit) but sets for the forthcoming Airfix Victor might be popular.

Real world, B.1,  K.2 and SR.2 conversions.

Trials fit, Spectre rocket pods, Red Neck SLAR pods.

Whiff,  bomb panniers, Skybolt.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I had suggested this before but got no feedback... If Freightdog already have 1/72 F-16CFTs for the Revell kit, why not make conversion sets for the latest Vipers, the E/F/I? There are no kits or conversions of the E/F available in 1/72.

Some of the weapons tested on the Buccaneer in the Lamming book.
Jaguar M conversion perhaps ?

Army Lynx conversion for the Hobbyboss kits, including:-
TOW plus maybe mods for AH7/AH9 could also do the AH6 -Proposed version for the Royal Marines with undercarriage, folding tail and deck lock of Naval Lynx. Not built.
HT-3 Lynx HT.3 Proposed training version for the Royal Air Force.
Lynx 3 Army or Navy with larger blended tail.

Well the thing I've always wanted to see SHOULD be simple and that's the SRAAM-100 twin missile pod as developed in the UK from the late 1960s through the late 1970s. It was test-flown on Hunters and mockups were fitted to Harriers and probably many other types. I know that there's an issue finding references for it but surely somebody must have drawings? There's an actual pod in the Bristol collection, so may they have documentation too?

It has been suggested in the past and Colin did get it looked into but was lacking Photos of the underside which held them back. A pity as its a cracking little add on that can be used on various types in place of Sidewinders or ASRAAM. I know Hobbes scratch built one as he went to Bristol to see it so might have the necessary info.

Some more ideas in 1/72 scale;
Aviation Traders ATL-98 Carvair conversion kit. This would work well with the Revell C-54 Spymaster.
A KB-29P conversion with plugs for the fuselage gun installations, flying boom with decals.
An updated Dassault Br1150 ATL2
A set of Allison T-56 turboprops similar design to the 'Dakota Turbo'.Round coupling merging into the oblong cowling. Solves the problem of a square peg in a round hole!
Three Lockheed Neptune ideas:
P-2J
AP-2H
RB-69

Another thought Colin would be single unit (i.e. combined) engine/exhaust/cowling Twin Wasps plus underwing radomes to turn the Sunderland III into a V?

Edit: I do concede that may not be possible in time for Telford.

Get the canopy challenge; note IIRC some NF10s when used later as (I think) nav trainers had T11 canopies retrofitted.  Also if you are tempted to do an NF10 conversion the canopy shape was remarkably similar to the Mosquito fighter canopy.
