The rear bottom end of the Sea Hurricane has been trimmed to fit as has the bottom rear of the Defiant. It`s a mess, but hopefully you can all see where I`m going with it.

That's what I plan doing with my second 1/72 Sea Defiant

Bashing has now been completed and it`s gained a lick of paint as well.

Now I really wasn't expecting those early national markings or colour scheme. Thought she'd be dressed up in a much latter scheme - well done

How did you get that wonderful colour on the exhausts ?

The exhausts are painted bronze and then I use a Tamiya weathering kit, (soot), to darken them up a little.

As you can see I`ve decided to keep this looking very much like a Defiant. The idea being that one was sent to the US in 1939 for evaluation.

My second Defiant build will be what the US Navy did to the original design to improve it and get it ready for carrier service.

Think of it as a kinda `pimp my Defiant` plan.

Looking good.

It gets me thinking about how hard it would be to turn radial engined USN jobs into inline V8s? Nah, too hard.
Whatever.

Looks great and the tip for the rust look WILL be utilized. I don't have any bronze but I have some gold that I think can be made to work. I've been trying just painting stuff silver color and slapping a bit of brown on it. Wasn't looking that good.

This is coming together well.. I'm impressed.

Nearly at the finish line with this.

Just got to matt coat the Defiant, give it some weathering, paint the figures and then make a small dio base.
