....and from all at Chateau Rheged too!!

Most appreciated, thank you!! So far it's been a good day once I got past cursing motorists on my morning commute for not having lights on in the fog! The rest of the day will be filled with having Mad Men playing in the background while I indulge in some model building.

But it was so awesome watching these do touch and goes... it looked like they would fall out the sky because they're so large... it makes them look like they were going about 30 MPH.  ;D

Watching the Antonov An-124's landing at YYC (Calgary International) gives me the same impression TCO ---- or the 747's for that matter.

A thrill each and every time I imagine!  If I had something nearby where I could set up and watch planes like that I'd probably end up spending too much time doing so.

Working at YYC helps  ;)  a couple of months ago an An-124 came right over where I was working that day at the end of 17R ---- we had another land just last week too.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

  That's pretty cool.     I'll see one for myself one of these days. Or at least build a model of one.  ;D

Speaking of... I'm trying to decal this Vanquish... I've already gotten the large stuff on and now it's just down to the stencils and the TINY stencils. All this pink and baby blue!!!

Hard to see.

I hope the sun comes back around soon this week because a good deal of these aren't going to show up unless I get outside into natural light. I did the best I could, though, and you can just barely make out the pink and blue stuff on the bottom. Roundels are pretty easy to see at least!

In other news, my half-assed attempt at casting nozzles turned out as expected. I did a poor job of running the goo down into the cavities so I wound up with nozzles missing portions of themselves.

I had a eureka moment when I looked at my super glue caps; I could cut two down and they would be PERFECT but I didn't have two. I almost bought a couple at the store earlier and told myself not to bother...... should have listened to my intuition.

Anyway... I was about to hop in the truck and drive back down there when I saw some irrigation filters and I decided to just turn them into nozzles instead to make NEW HIGH FALUTIN TECHNOLOGY!!!! Yeah baby.

They may look a bit unorthodox but have ya seen the rest of this thing?  ;D   Of course, there's cutting, painting, and gluing yet to be done but they should look pretty cool. I've already glued a "scab" into the tail end to glue them to so it's just a matter of taking the 10 minutes or less on aforementioned work.

I'd LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to get this done today.. it would be a nice birthday treat, but, it's going to take all the gumption and gusto I have in me...      Let's just hope the birthday beer doesn't start producing lopsided stencils. So far putting these on is going surprisingly well but "burn out" from doing repetitive, tedious "stenciling" could rear its ugly head if I'm not mindful!

Amazingly... I've put all these tiny things on. They look VERY cool just so hard to see.

Going to take about a 10 minute break then glue on the gear doors and gear. I'll gloss it again at this point (I don't care if the tires are glossy  ;D) to get the gears doors matching and seal in the transfers. After that I'll let it sit around for half an hour then PVA the glass in, finish the nozzles (Will NOT be glossy)  then she's done!

But not too late to cram copious volumes of beer down your gullet!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, my friend!! It's been a good day. Rushing to finish this Anti-Flash Moth and if I can actually get it done, it will be even better.  ;D

Quick update....  all the gear and gears doors are on. I just need to finish cutting the nozzles then paint them. After that, I glue them on then glue in the windows. I hope I don't have to do too much to get them to fit right. I've already done a mutlitude of dry fit and filing but now with the paint and clear I may need to do it again. I hope not!

Also...  and I tested it a few times and it was OH SO CLOSE to the main gear.. but the "pivot point" of this thing is a bit backwards of said main gear so I'm going to have to drop some weight in this thing to keep it from tail sitting. Luckily, even with it all built, there are more than one option to do so.. it just eats up more time.

As always, the last mile (kilometer) is the longest.   These holes and stuff aren't as big as I imagined. I can cram a bunch of weight in there, but then getting glue in there somehow to keep it situated ain't gon' work.  ;D   Oh well.. I bit the bullet and glued a "pedestal" to the bottom.

Good news is that the windscreen and forward cockpit glass fit quite well. I haven't tried the two little windows for the rear cockpit yet but they should be OK based on the fit of the others..

Standy by for lousy pictures.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Looks good.

It does, certainly suits the colour scheme

Many happy felicitations young Brad
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

TheChronicOne

Thanks!!! And thanks! Had a good birthday although I think I stayed up too late!!!!  I'm waiting on the blasted SUN to come back then I'll do ACTUAL pictures of this thing. I put 800 billion stencils on this thing and I want to see 'em, damnit!!     ;D ;D

Now on to getting the HERCULES finished. It needs 2 more coats of white paint then it's time to start painting the blue on. I think I'll paint an intermediate grey on to help save some blue paint and bridge the gap between such a light and such a dark color.

Plans for today.... outside pictures of the two builds with all the white paint. Even with clouds they will be better pictures than the garbage I produced inside.

Cancelling the P-47 Moo-Cow for now because this just isn't the model I had in mind. I want to build this one as a BUBBLE TOP, not the Razor back, and not one with wing pods that aren't supposed to be there. I have a bubble top somewhere in the stash (Academy I think) but I was kind of wanting to do that one oob as the decorations are nice and the transfers are in really good shape. I'll buy another bubble top at some point and do the Moo-Cow with it instead of this old Lindberg "B."

I think I'll go ahead and do the modern Mustang instead. I choose the Heller kit for this and will be under way today I think!! Gotta have SOMETHING to do while paint dries on the Hercules.

For the second new build I think I'll go ahead with the US Army F-16 Fighting Falcon done up in pre-war colors.  ;D

Love it!!! You're welcome. That Hornet will be a hoot, man. I had plans on building that one myself until I realized I don't have the room for such things any more. One of the last builds I did back as a kid before I "quit" was a 1/48. I'll have to dig it and my 1/48 f-16 out that I built even further back for some pics. I didn;t have a clue about fixing seams of painting canopies back in the day but by golly the Hornet turned out neat and the F-16 did, too, although I put STICKERS on it.  ;D

Enjoy!
