Should be interesting....  it'll have the green and grey camo uppers with yellow on the bottom. Doesn't that mean it's a trainer? Could it also be on things in trials or on protoypes or something? Anyway... it looks good to me and I like it better than light grey or whatever.  ;D

The yellow undersides were for non-combat aircraft under test, prototypes etc. Trainers were all over yellow, some of them anyway,

Very good!! This will work nicely, then!  The box does most of the brainstorming work for me. Even gives it a home: RAE Farnborough in 1946.

Hmmmm.... hard to "call it" today! It's going to be cooler out so I'm going to do all the mowing I can. Even if I wind up not making the deadline for the GB, this mowing stuff has to get done and I HAVE to take advantage of every little break I can get and cooler weather is definitely a "break." I think it may even cloud up at least for a few hours this morning so that's another "break."  That said, there are storms moving this way and some could wind up here so I may wind up with a washed out day??? If that happens I'll be having plenty of time to work on me builds.

To that end, I need to mask up a couple things on the F-15 and paint a few more details before I can gloss it. Might take 2-3 hours because I always estimate conservatively but I think I just need to mask for a NMF square below the engines and paint some black on some inlets. Oh, and nav lights. Don't want to forget those. lol

Well. Hmm.

Working on the Eagle right now. It's coming along relatively smoothly. Go check that out in the Cold War GB place.

I also am looking forward to getting back to work on the stalled Liberty build. Thanks to Fred I now have some transfers to try to cram on there. I'll be looking at those later to see what the score is. If I wrap up the Eagle I can get right into it. I'll have my decalling water-mix so it's just a matter of finding the ones I need.

BAC 111???    Maybe?? That would be nice, but I doubt I'll get to it today. If anything, I'll start trimming out the stuff on the Flying Ram.

I have a big mess o' kits to add in the stash thread, too. Mostly airliners. I'm having fun finding and buying the things but I've filled up the space I have for them almost all the way now. I'll need to stop buying the damn things.    I need more room!!!!   ;D   I can cram a few more in there, though!

Oh man, this Monkeagle is off my back. Feels good. It's all finished and now all I need to do is take good outside pictures of it. Now I can start my flying wing and get back to work on the lil ariliner 111!

Here's all I have for now:

I cut a lot of corner on it late in the game but it turned out really well I think. It really hit the spot! I was wanting to build an F-15 and what better way than to hand it over to the Navy?  ;D

Now I think I'll open up the flying wing and ruminate. . ..

Thanks so much! I'm pleased with the way it came out! It was worth the effort in the last "big push." I'm still amazed that the  GB is over already... I mean.. it just started!! Man, this year is going by so fast!!!  Even by my biased eye it really "looks naval."  You know... how... any modern era USN jet definitely has a look about it not to be confused with any other air corp on the Earth so I had to capture that and I think it works.   One of these days I'm going to drag all this stuff to a model show or something and I'd imagine this one here would be one that would illicit double takes. At first it looks like something it's not.  ;D ;D ;D    Very very happy with my Eagle!!

On to the next!! i'm going to start checking out this XB-79 Flying Ram thing. I'll just kind of look over it today, maybe clip some of it out. I think I'll leave it at that, though, and just do some research reading and solo-brainstorming (Is it still even brainstorming if you are alone when you do it?! ) and generally just gather my thoughts on it and prepare for get into it full-swing tomorrow.

No lawn scheduled tomorrow?!  I'll be home uhhh....probably around 7AM.  ;D   I'd like to just start right away working on model but I'd be nuts to waste a nice, cool morning so I'll likely be out in the backyard getting whatever odds and ends work done that I can. I know the bed of the truck could sure be cleaned up and I have a couple mowers needing tuned up. Also need to wash Buddy, the dog.  ;D   I'll do that toward the end when it's warmest out. But any how..point being, I might not get started on the Wing until noon or later but that's alright.

NOW, intel gathering. Time to research the plane itself and also find build reviews for the kit so I can get that classy intel briefing and avoid problems. .. .

This build is CURSED.

A-4 Liberty. I now have all the transfers I need to get it complete (Thanks, Fred!!!!!)  ..... but I messed up the ones that say "NAVY."  :banghead: ;D

I mean... come on...... this.....   the damn "NAVY" is the crux of the build!!!!!   F-5 Navy, bruh!!! Come on!!  ;D ;D ;D

So, I have most of the transfers on now but am back to needing just two more "NAVY" ones. I have a bunch that are too large or are the wrong color. I have scoured my collection and it's down to just a couple sealed kits and I'm not going to open them in the hopes that I find two extras. Most likely there will not be any in those kits I can use without messing them up so I'll just sit on my hands some more (hey, it's been months already, what's a few more days  ) and see what I can come up with.

Like I said, though, this thing is cursed or something....  I'll likely butcher those as well. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if this stupid thing spontaneously combusted or walks on the ceiling or watches me while I sleep or some nutty stuff.

I could work on the BAC-111 but I think I'd rather start getting my flying wing thing clipped out and ready to start the one week GB!  I can clip all the malarkey out and file away the burrs and start dry-fit and adjustment. Sand and file the parts and put them in baggies so that when the build starts, all I have to do is start gluing.

I was broken of that habit through being ridiculed by fellow modellers when I returned to the hobby.

They're transfers cos they go from one place to another.  ;D ;D ;D

Rest easy as I've seen them called "transfers" in kit paper work at various points so I'll keep using it 'til I don't.      I also write my fours with a closed top  (like the one on your keyboard there, pointy instead of open like everyone else writes them) and use old timey words like "regale." And I use 80's slang like "word."  ;D  Being contrarian is fun.

Man, lost the day yesterday to work! It was nice outside so after I spent the hottest hours of the afternoon inside putting these decorations on the Liberty (ALL BUT TWO  :banghead: :banghead:  ;D  )  I went back outside and worked anouther 2-3 hours and after that I was wiped out so I didn't get the Flying Ram trimmed out or anything. I'll get started on that tomorrow morning. Definitely won't be doing my moo-cow, though.   ;D

Back in the day, as I'm sure Chris will attest to, they were always called "transfers". "Decals" came during my absence from the hobby & the term threw me for a bit until I gave up using "transfers" in the face of overwhelming opposition (kit instructions all seemed to use the new-fangled term & people looked confused until I said "Decals!", when the light of recognition grew bright).

;D ;D   That's funny... you'd think common sense would prevail at some point but I suspect the common lay-person isn't all too familiar with "transfes" in general. They've never seen an "iron-on" applied  or have any knowledge of graphic arts or whatever and a lot of people don't realise they have probably walked past half a dozen transfers (be them advertisments, decorates, someones clothes, etc) but don't realize it. If they did they would make the connection. "Oh, these ARE transfers, whadda ya know?! They're just small and go on models!"

We ought to start just calling them STICKERS.
