Lego minifig as a size comparison is a good idea as most of us know what size they are.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I'm not really into civil types, but have to admit they are both attractive looking machines
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

You know, that's a good idea. I think I'll add him to more photos for that reason. Between the TET bottle, clothespins, toothpicks, and this lil dude, that should cover almost everyone on the planet. Most everyone is familiar with at least one of these items.

Thanks, and thanks on behalf of whoever designed the liveries!  lol    I hope the Tristar turns out as well as the ATR 72 did (so far, it' coming alon very well!)  . OR BETTER. It's much larger, has more complicated paint, and ten trillion transfers.

Man, that's what I love about the civvie junk. I'm a sucker for "colors" and they're inundated with pretty colors all over the place. Such smooth clean lines, too. I never envisioned, as a kid, that I would grow to love models that were anything other than military. I used to think, if it werent military, there wasn't much use in building/playing with it. That was my other toys, too... like my "Hothweels" type cars... the ones I actually played with were 90% military stuff.

The PSA scheme's an all time classic, and on the Tri-Star it looks its best. That's going to be a BLINDER of a model!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I'm hoping so ... it's going to be one of the largest and most colorful things I have, even including 1/72. Hell, on that note, this thing approximately the same size as my 1/72 B-29 (Tu-4).

Would you happen to know why PSA switched colors later on? By the early 80's I guess it was, the pink was gone and replaced with the orangey-brown color.

I don't, no, but it was probably some management change that decided it.

The airlines were all in the merging and splitting up business around then, and actually still are!  :o

Coins get used a lot but they are actually not that good as while everyone in Europe knows what size a one Euro coin is (for example) Americans, Australians and other non-Europeans (like the British) will only know if they have been there on holiday recently enough to remember.
I think I will be "volunteering" one of my minifigs for scale reference duties.

The trouble with having all these 'Scale Reference' thingies is that it'll spawn a rush of outsize ones, like Greg's 10 x full size Tamiya paint pot!  :o

;D ;D ;D

Such a thing; he saved a ton of money buying in bulk!!!  hahahaha    ;D

Yeah, Fred, coins are lousy, you're right. They use bannanas on Reddit.  ;D

Did a bunch more sanding on the Tristar then I glued all the wings on then took it and engines outside and primed them all up. So.... that's ever piece primed and now it's just a matter of rolling on with PSR and painting. A lot of the stuff can be finished to completion aside from final assembly. The gears, doors, and engines can all be painted and have their transfers applied.

Here she is for now, with some of the stash in the background! I have started lining the walls with some of it facing out. Works pretty well so far, none of it has fallen over.

Up next, I've looked again at the 1/144 Typhoon jet and it would appear that the decals I have will barely work so I'm greenlighting this project! I'll have to truncate the fin designs again but I've looked at it and it should work just fine. I'm once again not going to arm this one, but I'm having thoughts of taking some of the little missiles to throw on a BD-5.

Look for a thread for this one to pop up soon.

Lastly, I need to get some sort of legit military build going here... SO, I've decided to go for it with this old Airfix F-111. Pretty rough looking kit but it sure wouldn't be the first time!! I've decided to go with South Africa and I am envisioning some sort of desert-ish tan/grey/brownish-red affair for a tri color camo.

Thread for this one is also eminent.

What scale is the Tristar Brad C?
I was assuming 1/144 but it looks bigger than that.

Yeah, it's the grossest (144) scale still, but the Tristar is a wide, large jet. Holding it is like wielding a club.  ;D   I was think about just that last night... "man, this is a fat bit ol' plane."  MAkes the other airliners look anorexic. Really drives home the difference between the regulars and and wide bodies.

Check this out, picture I found by Bob Garrard with all sorts of PSA vehicles in it. Look at the pink on the nose of that Boeing product (737)! Gotta love that shade.

That truck is cool. It would be nice to have one, but just a regular "maintenance" one with the regular bed. Or even a model of one. I better slow down before "1/144 scale pickup" is my next eBay search.   ;D

Sure do! Hahahahah       I might whip up something. Speaking of stairs-trucks (sorry it's not even 4AM yet, by brain isn't working yet) I have one somewhere that I keep meaning to see what scale is. I'm almost certain it's 1/100 but I could be wrong. I ought to grab that and ruler 'n calculator later and see what the score is.
