Finished the Skyraider.

Now what.

Time to start something new. I might try the Lysander idea (put Me-109/S-199 wings on it for the Israeli's) which could prove to actually be interesting and half way plausible even, with the way I explained how the parts came to be, which is simply that an S-199 wrecked and so did a Lysander which in this scenario was yet another of the hodge podge of stuff the Israeli's secured in the years post 1948. For flair I figured I could in turn make it useful in the Suez Canal Thingy and put those neat bumble bee stripes on it.

Other works is on the airliners. Going to try to get the transfers working on the 737 and need to work on the engines for the Tristar and get the masking layout going again. If I find some time I might tinker a bit on my extended build, the Pluto.

That is an impressive and plausible paint job.  WELL DONE!!

Thanks!!! I may not be quite done with it, either. I ran out of my gloss-deadening agent and the weather is terrible so, depending, I may pull her back out of the hangar for a bit more spray work and more pictures in the sun. This was a fun project and an admirable way to dispose of kits replete with accuracy problems.

Going to dig out stuff for the Lysander and see if I can make a go of it. Again, I'm going to have to do and stick to things I have on hand because I can't be buying things and that's probably going to remain the case for a few months. Odds and ends like primer and clear but that's going to be it. I have plenty of spare decals and kits sitting around so it's time to make use of it whether it causes issues or not.

Well, it done happened again! I go to look for some 109 kits and figured I'd reorganize the entire stash at the same time. This means I have a couple days at least of work ahead of me because, well, I decided if I'm going to clean and organize the stash, I should deep clean the entire place and do things like re-organize wires and cords and do all kinds of dusting and cleaning.  ;D  I tell you... it's just not in me to half-arse things.

Anyway... I have indeed found some kits for consideration and I've started some good ol' organizing and cleaning.

Amazing how them kits on the wall I'm using as decoration (and a better way to store some of the larger boxes) don't topple over. I think my house may be leaning.  ;D

What's the Roden Provider like?  Good kit?
I've been looking at them and pondering...

:o 2 Shinden II kits? I wonder what you've got in mind for those 2...

No clue about the 123. All I know is it was pretty expensive.   ;D   I don't normally shell out full price for a kit but it was the LAST thing I needed for the Thunderbirds.

The Shindens... well, one will be OOB and one will be a what-if!      That's just the tip of the iceberg. I have three F-16XL kits now, too.  ;) ;D

Then you'll have two what-if Shindens...  ;D  Now, what's this about THREE XL kits?? Only a couple allowed for each household, mister... :police:

;D  Chuffed as hell about those. After so much searching I found them all in pretty quick succession for reasonable price. The last one was the best.... $50 factory sealed in magnificent shape. I see rattier ones (much rattier!) selling for twice that consistently. But anyway..... I have two to build and a display example. I like threes because of this. I always figure... "I'll build one how it's supposed to be, build one into a what if, and then I have one as a collectible!"

I have another trio in the same shape... my Cousteua PBY Catalina kits!  One is a very nice factory sealed example then I have one that is mid grade but open and one that is having a bleached out box. In this case, I have one to build, one to serve as a factory sealed example, and the third is going to remain un built but since it's open people can dig through it and look at all the neat stuff if the want to. In my mind I envision a whole little set-up that I could take to shows or something.

I don't know if it sounds shallow or whatever but these things bring me joy. I love my airplanes and I always feel happy when I look at my favorite model kits. Some of my most prized kits were hard to come by before I could find one at a price I could handle so those are especially nice. It's fun to look through them and just handle them. Sorting the stash is a pain but when I see my favorite stuff it makes it all worthwhile!

That Electra II down there goes for big bucks!!! I'm still amazed I was able to get my hands on it. On that note.... the civil side of things is coming up pretty soon. I've been focusing on re-organizing all my military stuff so far and just piling the rest up for later.  This means I get to have a whole 'nother phase of having fun digging through and looking at my favorite kits!

;D  I know exactly what you mean, i have my holy grail kits and after i build the sole example in my stash, i'll be sorry cause it'll be near to impossible to find more at a reasonable price.
Monogram XL kits are the same here, i have built one and have the better example in the stash but i also have the LoneStar resin conversion sets for Hasegawa kits, single and twin seat variant. These were expensive because of shipping costs and they weren't made by a big brand, just a modeller in his garage making them as orders come in, which makes them more valuable as there was never a big production run of these conversion sets.
As a matter of fact, the twin seat XL has been discontinued because the molds were getting worn and Mr. Yukio Kanezawa doesn't want to sell bad quality products.

But that Arrow...

What you said about the grail kits reminded me of something and it makes the saying seem to make more sense now.. "you can't have your cake and eat it, too."  I've always hated that quote because why in the hell would one create a perishable item and not use it.. but anyway..... THIS makes more sense, "You can't have your kit and build it, too!"  You either have a kit....or a built model.  ;D

Those conversion sets are choice..... you have got to stop incubating them eggs and hatch some XL's.....   ;D

;D Cut me some slack, will ya? I've got enough on my plate as it is and the XL kits are "my precious"... ;D They'll all be built, that's what i bought them for, i won't be taking any models to my grave but it might take me some time to get to them as there are so many other models i wanna build before i build another XL.
That saying is so true... i guess it all depends on what one really wants the kits for, might just wanna have it in the box as a collector's item or you might wanna build it, it's all good as long as you're happy with it, right? You paid for the models, you choose what to make of them. I've thought of leaving the 1/72 XLs in the box but, i like to see the built thing, not the parts in the box so, i'll try to build them all, just don't know when.

But YOU should get one of those 3 beauties out of the box and chuck glue and paint on it!! ;D

Wow, I've never seen a 'Dodgers' Electra kit before, it always seemed like a fable.  :o

Well done for getting your hands on one!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
