But YOU should get one of those 3 beauties out of the box and chuck glue and paint on it!! ;D

Know what? You're right!  I was needing a new RW 1/72 something or other to build... so why not? Or... if I wanted... I was thinking these would be great as an Alaskan or Washington aggressor. So... what-if the military convinced GD to put these into production for just that purpose.  Or...  something.

Wow, I've never seen a 'Dodgers' Electra kit before, it always seemed like a fable.  :o

Well done for getting your hands on one!

Thank you!  That thing gives me a smile every time I see it.  Long term, I've been wanting to take a Minicraft 1/144 Electra II and find some Dodgers decals to throw on it since I'll obviously never build this (box scale) Revell kit. Most certainly this kit is the "cake" I'll never eat.

Sounds like a great idea! Go for it! I want more XLs being whiffed!!
Makes me wonder if they had chosen it over the F-15E, which of the two models would be built in greater number, the single or twin seat? Or maybe both?
Considering that the Strike Eagle was chosen as a twin seater, having a WSO to reduce workload for the pilot, i have a hunch that the twin seat would be preferred, especially because they already had the normal F-16 in service as a single and twin seat variants, the mud mover would probably be twin seater, don't you think?
What if the XL was preferred in both single and twin seat over the normal F-16? That's the path i took with my build... the PoAF would end up buying some XLs instead of the ADF variant they first received...

OK... made enough headway with my kit stash re-organization and deep cleaning to stop for a minute and contemplate some more on my Messersander project.

Of these two kits, which is the one I want to cut up and which is one I want to keep whole? Naturally I want to cut up either the more common or the least accurate one.

We posted 6 seconds apart. lol   Your thinking is solid re: twin seaters. Nothing better than going to war with a homie! I have kept me F-16xl's out of the stash for now... I'm going to crack one open later and see what sort of response it creates creatively.

I would have thought the Revell kit is the easiest to get hold of and like Flyer I think the K is the more attractive (not that any 109 can really be called that  ;)) but I haven't seen the kit so can't comment on its accuracy. Anyway for a K I'd go for one of the AZ kits which are excellent

Thanks fellers. I'll put the chop on the G-10.  Now, what to do with the left over fuselage?   I have some wings in the stash... can't remember what they look like but maybe I could do something weird with those.
-Sprues McDuck-

TheChronicOne

Well, hold on. The wings on the 109 are barely over half the span of the Lysander wings. Not sure how the area compares but I suppose I need to do a little reading on the Lysander to see just how for I can push my luck before the thing winds up not even able to fly.  ;D    Also... weight... without the gear they aren't so bad, but I imagine the 109 wings are heavier than the Lysander wings but then again, if they're that much smaller, perhaps not?

Last post on models for the day. I've started gathering the parts I need for the Lysander monster plane. Found a replacement prop from a Hasegawa Spitfire that looks virtually Identical so I have that sorted. Just need to make sure 109 wings will work on it....   I'm kind of thinking so after a bit of research but it will probably eliminate any short-field capabilities. Oh well, IAF was desperate in them days!  ;D

A better look at the warped Lysander wings....

With the Lysander why not go down the Arsenal-Delanne route ? Although given the look of those wings  :o I doubt that's possible  :-\

And yes I do have the planet kit in the stash  ;D

Captain Canada

Can't go wrong with a CF-100 and 105 ! lol. But you knew I was gonna say that. I like the way the kits are climbing the wall.....kind of like most of our better halves when they see the piles growing  ;D Is that Provider the 72nd scale kit ? Must be. I think I have a 144th scale kit of that somewhere. Or two....It's always fun to look at another guy's stash and do the " got 'em, got 'em, need 'em, got 'em " like the old trading cards days
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Where's my beer ?

That Arsenal-Delanne plane is wicked!!!! That would be awesome but assuredly I ain't up to the task.   ;D

Definitely the 72d Provider. That was the last aircraft I needed for the complete Thunderbirds collection (including some whif planes and a weird L-39 Tribute plane).  That thing was pricey but I had been searching for two years and essentially gave up on the idea of finding one at a "reasonable" price.  ;D

Working on airliners again. I'm using the remaining decals I have left of the Saudia livery (Thankfully I still have unadulterated pieces enough to make a livery). This time, I'm putting TWO coats of liquid decal on them and going crosswise with the second coat and hopefully the "lattice" will hold things together. I suspect I'll need a gallon of Sol to put on the stuff that wraps around the nose but it if it works..... so be it. I've also glued the engines on the wings. I have to paint a portion of the pylon and put "Boeing 737" on the side but that's all that's left for those. I need to put the wing walk decals on then the whole wing/engines will be finished.

Also working on the Tristar. Windscreen and the things around the stabilizers. These will help me plotting the masking.

PR19_Kit

That'll be the very rare single engined version of the Tri-Star then?

Did they call it a Uni-Star?  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
