The list gets so long that the older entries fall off the end.  ;D

NOTHING done yesterday. Guess I'm taking a small break. I keep thinking about working on the 737, though. I need to get the bottom masked so I can paint it... then have to mask more, paint gloss black, the paint silver over that. THEN... there are a few last transfers to put on, then I need to build the vortex dissipators, then put on the fiddly bits and it will be done....

Ups and downs, I swear! Came off of riding the high after completing the valon and now can't be arsed to do ANYTHING with model stuff. I've had to handle a lot of "real" world stuff over the last few days (unemployment crap, etc) & it's proven to be ultra frustrating and a mood kill. Hope to be back to building soon though.

So check this out... it took over 6 hours but finally got the unemployment thing going. The website is utter garbage and nearly impossible to navigate. Broken stuff left and right with no explanation of why... a useless FAQ section and a search function that does next to nothing. I even had to wait on hold for 45 minutes to speak with someone about all this only to be met with a highly rude person that wouldn't even listen to me explain what was happening, and just kept spouting off things I needed to do regardless of relevance. This person kept telling me to do things with my PHONE and I had to tell her 5 times that my phone has nothing to do with anything. I'm not doing this on my phone, I'm doing it on my computer. My phone isn't connected to the internet. I don't have a smart phone. I am at my desk ON A COMPUTER. Didn't matter.... instead of letting me explain the problem and what I had done so far..... she kept telling me that my phone needed to be turned off for 5 minutes. Once I finally got this moron to understand that I'm on god damn computer, not a smart phone, she just gave up and once again refused to even listen to what the actual problem was ( ;D) and just said, "OH WELL YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO VISIT THE OFFICE."    FFS. I said "thank you" and hung up.  It's done now though... I got it going MYSELF but it took 6+ hours over two days and some really strange ways of approaching the problem. At one point I totally left the damn website and went googling around only to re-enter the website through some sort of "backdoor" and find myself in an old about  the year2005 interface.... turns out the whole shooting match is a patch work of old site and new site but.... I dunno... it's like a monkey designed it all. I'm honestly amazed that I managed to get my claim submitted.

So anyway, with that out of the way I hope to start back on some stuff soon. I keep almost starting in on the masking work on the 737 but there's just always something dragging my attention away. Tomorrow will be another day spent doing non model stuff but I hope to get a lot of tasks knocked out. I have to do everything from go to the pharmacy to doctors office to the tag agency to the grocery store and numerous other places to pay bills, resupply, pay tax, etc. This has just not been a very good week but..... you know... like I said.. I hope like hell that after tomorrow with accomplishing some of the tasks I'll feel better and be able to relax a bit. GOOD NEWS is I have found time in the evenings and at night to play video games and that's been pretty fun.  ;D

So it's almost like They don't want you to submit a claim.

Never knew that, just assumed something like unemployment would be Federal. What happens if you live in one State and worked in another ?

Must admit most of the UK Government's websites I've had to deal with (Pension and NHS) have been fine, unlike some major banks and similar institutions . The only time I was unemployed back in the mid 70's I went down the Employment Exchange and queued up. Sometimes the old fashioned ways were far more efficient.

You apply for unemployment in the state that you worked in, because that's where your unemployment insurance is paid into; and every state has differing durations and payout amounts.  In the early part of this century, I used to work in a call center just over the border in NY.  When I was made redundant, I should have applied for UI benefits through NY, but this was in the pre-Internet everything "Before Times" so I didn't.

Of course, the exception to this is if you're military or a Federal employee.  You have to file a waiver to claim benefits.

Every state has different unemployment services, and deals with the virus differently, and each COUNTY handles elections, with rules varying by state, and on and on.  It's... complicated.  And of course many people live in a different town than they work in, so local taxes can get complicated.  My employer is large and has arrangements with most of the surrounding towns to do things automatically, but when I moved to a small town they couldn't be bothered to deal with that locality, so my work's response was "you're on you're own."  I found out about that particular tax issue when I received a threatening letter from the tax agency for nonpayment, so I had to deal with three cities' taxes plus my work to get that sorted out.

TheChronicOne

I ain't got nothing to add.  ;D  The homies explained it all for me.

Yeah, it's a mess, and many places hate poor people, Oklahoma is one of them. They're rather we hurl ourselves off a cliff than "GIVE MY MONEY TO SOME LAZY PERSON!!!!!1111"  Yeah, that 42 cents a year from the taxes we pay so people don't starve is such a burden yet you have nothing to say about billions in corporate welfare? FOH.

AHEM...   ;D

How bout some NEW bitching!  YAAAY!      One of the dozen or more tasks I have today is to go pay the tax on my two trucks. This hacks me off every year. It's silly to have to pay tax on an object.... OVER AND OVER to infinity. When you buy a coffee table... you pay tax on it at the store. ONCE. Imagine if the state government forced you to pay that tax again and again and again every year for as long as you own it? People would lose their minds about the unfairness of it all but no one bats an eye about having to pay property or vehicle tax every year. "We see you still own that lamp you bought in 1982, we know you've paid tax on it 39 times but we're going to go on and ask you to do it again, and we'll see you next year!"   DUMB

Anyway... I'm off to do my errands and it's feeling pretty good knowing that by evening I'll be caught up on a lot of things. Sigh of relief!

Woooo! YEAAAAAH.      Got everything done. Bank account is lighter but some of the stuff I took care of today won't be a thorn in my side again for another 11 months or so. Indeed, I feel a lot better accomplishing all these goals and handling business. Got a fair amount of exercise to boot. Tomorrow I can get up and not worry about much of anything. I need to do one more supplementary shot to another grocery store and if I get an email back from a certain bank employee I will start the process of applying for a second round of Covid small business loans but other than that? I can be lazy as I wanna. I'll get my daily and weekly chores done and then I can work on my models.

I'm thinking about trying to make something out of the left over parts from the F-16 T-38 kitbash. I'll probably also get all the parts clipped out and gate remnats filed away on the part for the Cessna Police Aeroplane.

In other news.......   I went out to the shopping center. Seeing as how this new property manager didn't want my services any long.... no one was around to run the water in the vacant stores when the temps were -8F /-22C and no one was around to say, "hey you know, the heat isn't even on" and the pipes in multiple large stores burst in multiple areas, flooded those stores AND flooded an occupied store, Kirklands, full of fancy high dollar merchandise. So, this new property manager has wound up costing the property owners 10's of thousands of dollars in damages. lmao  ;D   I don't necessarily believe in KARMA.. but if it were to exist, this is a prime example of it.  ;D ;D ;D      I'm going to be sure to send this information along with MORE pictures I took today of trash all over the damn place to the landscaping company I was contracting with to grease the skids a little more. My goal here is to do as much as possible to get this property manager FIRED AND OUTTA HERE so I can get back to work.

It's the least I can do.  ;D  I sort of get the impression that she might not last long anyway based on a few things such as the fact that she wouldn't even return emails to the landscaper company and now this thing here...  a 100% preventable cluster that will easily go into the 10's of thousands of dollars to remedy. Kirkland's....  the fancy store in between two units that had burst pipes..... no telling how much merchandise they had to toss, not to mention the flooded floor and stuff. She might not be around long and anything I can do to help usher her on out is my goal because I need my damn gig back.    She threw me under the bus because of philosophical differences and out of malice and that doesn't sit well with me so while this "trying to get my job back" is necessary, the side effect of being a thorn in her side is fantastic. I wouldn't even bother with all this if it weren't for the hope of getting my gig back.

Possibly 100's of thousands ? Plus if it was preventable the insurance company will be looking for a way out, so could be even more costly. It does seem like the type of mistake that gets someone fired, but knowing how litigious the States can be, I do wonder ?
