Ooooooh......  I will make it a point to find some of that, then! I had been drinking this swill called Icehouse for years but for some reason they stop making it about 3 times a year in the big boxes I buy so the availability is wildly inconsistent. I'm fed up and this has forced me to try new things.... which is fun, too....

So many beers out there now it's a roll of the dice every time I go into a new restaurant/micro brewery. My buddy from Milwaukee spoiled me about beer. He makes his own and is VERY good at it. No more Bud Light for me.

Fyoo-Tile.

As far as beer goes, quality over quantity these days.  Can't go past a good Belgian Blonde or Wheatbeer.  Leffe, Hoegarten, something like that.

Can't beat local.  There are a couple of local breweries near me that sell at the local purveyors of ardent spirits.

Kingfisher is a staple of a lot of Indian restaurants over here and SOL's ok if you just want something to drink with a pizza or similar.

Serious drinking however requires a decent hand pulled hoppy bitter around 4% strength. Don't particularly stick to a brand as I like checking what's new in the pub and find the descriptions on the labels are quite accurate and give a good idea of what to expect taste wise.

Not much of a beer guy these days although i loved Tuborg Danish beer back in my teens...
I like to have a good wine or cider with my meals but i love a good digestive like Medronho or Licor Beirão.

A good digestive huh? Maybe I need to look into that. I've over the last couple or three years started having a wee bit of problems with that. Like... maybe I have IBS or something. Some days I'm just fine and others I feel like I swallowed a beach ball THEN someone inflated it. lol

I've taken to drinking the various products of Swan Brewery Leominster.   Jimmy the brewer (and owner) may be a 7th cousin 12 times removed and the  "Swan on the Wye" and Bewick's Best" are most enjoyable.

My favourite beer is a crappy mass produced Danish lager called Slots. Having worked physically hard in warm weather, it's unbeatable. Otherwise - meh. It's all about context.  ;)

I thought I'd run out of my favourite beer - Hawkshead Lager. Only available in the Lakes without placing an expensive online order.
But last night I moved some stuff under the stairs to reveal one last bottle.  :drink:

The Bowness Bay Brewery do a nice range of proper beers. Swan Blonde, Swan Gold, Steamer IPA, Swan Black Stout, all lovely.

Try a low carb beer.  I've found that as I get older what limits my beer intake is feeling bloated rather than the effects of alcohol.  If I drink low carb beer I can still knock back a respectable amount before I have to stop.

I understand the 7th cousin bit, but I've always been flummoxed by the removed bit and you can go to 12 :o

My granddad explained it to us as horizontal and vertical axes.  Picture a family tree.  My mom's sister's son is my first cousin- we are on the same "generation" level.  His daughter is my first cousin, once (one generation) removed.

Roger! I may have inadvertently stumbled across that with my Sol (or not, actually). I notice that after having drank this stuff if I try to have a can of Icehouse that it's like... too much... I looked the other day and 12 ounces was 11.9 carbs... 10.4 with the icehouse. But hell... just in general I've been dealing with this... no beer involved just going through my daily routine...   I've started taking probiotics and stuff lately and that seems to help.... and trying supplements and stuff. Last time I  noticed this was on a day I stopped taking potassium chloride. I have a prescription and it ran out... so.... I wonder if THAT stuff helps with digestion or something. I'm so lost with this crap. There for a time thought my BP medicine was messing with me, too, but I've since ruled that out. It's so annoying..  I feel absolutely great when things are fine but when I get to feeling weird it can be miserable.

edit:  mixed up carbs with cals..  turns out the icehouse has LESS than Sol. I'm so damn confused. I just noticed another factor... however.... humidity... I just plain old feel crappy when it's high. I noticed after a cold front came through that the humidity dropped substantially and I started feeling tons better. Could be another of 100 factors... sheesh..
