Oh man!!! Came up with a good livery and also finally solidified the back story so that this thing makes sense (somewhat).

OK, so, the Tu-4 was a gift to Castro from Kruschev. I was going to make this plane an escort for that one but I wanted to use the OLD ROUNDEL... the one with the star and bar, not the round triangle one.  Someone noted that those wouldn't jive because with the change in gov't they tossed out the old roundels. So anyway.. I finally reconciled this problem by having the Sea Fury be a present from the PM of England to the PM of Cuba at the time (not sure which were which... was it Churchill still or... what?? Dunno who the Cuban guy is either, but I can figure out with a google search here in a bit.)

Any how... I forgot to paint the gear doors so I sprayed those up earlier and perhaps when I'm done with decalling they will be dry enough to handle so I can glue 'em on.

Man.. it's weird trying not to touch this thing while working on it. I couldn't find any cotton gloves and have been too tired/busy to go shopping so I'm just using this soft micro fiber cloth thing. It's working just fine, but it's awkward handling it like this.

Still need to do a tiny bit of painting in the cockpit, too. Getting real close to the finish line! Stoked with how this is turning out.

EDIT:  Never mind!!!   Later in the day than I realized and I still need to cook supper and tidy a couple things up so I guess I'll be calling it a day instead.  :o ;D

I couldn't help myself and got started on a new project. 1/72 Kitbash supersonic interceptor or bomber or photo recon or .. something.

I'll let everyone have their fun at guessing where the various parts came from.

I just need to gather up the gear and whatever stuff I might hide under the wings, if anything (external fuel maybe?? or would it ruin the look?), and then figure out how to decorate it.

The fuselage and fin are from a Vigilante, and the wings may come from a Skyray, but it'd have to be 1/48 I guess.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

2 for 2!!  Wings from the 1/48 Lindbergh Skyray and the Vigilante stuff is actually the old Revell box scale. It's so close to 1/72 (1/82 I think it was ??? ) that with this being make believe and being a scale or rama anyway I can just plug in 1/72 pilots and call it a day.

Ooooh, great! That box scale Revell Vigi was an attack variant too, not the much moulded, hump backed RA5-C variant that everyone else did.

BTW why wasn't, or isn't, there a conversion kit to backdate the recce Vigi to an attack version? It's an awesome looking aeroplane.

That's cool, didn't know that... went to look at pictures and I agree, I like the shape of the A-5A a lot better and it works gloriously with the shoulder mounted delta, with the top of the fuselage being so flat and all...  CF-105ish in this manner.

This looks to be a fun little project; one reason is because these wings all fit on the body close to flush so there will be not much need for putty.  :police:

Canards are MiG 21 stabilisers.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

zenrat industries:  We're everywhere...for your convenience..

TheChronicOne

Hell yeah!! That's all the parts guessed now.  ;D ;D

I contemplated not using them. It looks perfectly "cool" without them but after I taped them on and didn't look at it for awhile... when I came back to it, I liked them.

NARSES2

That's a very interesting and nice looking aeroplane from that viewpoint

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

TheChronicOne

Thanks, bud!!  I'm biased of course, but it looks good from other angles, too... especially mean looking down the nose.

Shouldn't be long before I can begin work on it in earnest, too, but for now, I'm going to get the C-Fury done.   I've still a small bit o' painting to do on the interior but after that I can glue the Lil Hombre inside and then start decalling.

MAN, I don't know if I'll get done now or not! Haven't even put on a single transfer yet. Been trimming them for about an hour and then the rest of the afternoon has been spent doing things like cooking and other things.

Oh well... I'm about to fill up me bowl wit' me Patent Pending Super Chronic Awesome Transfer Water(TM) and get on after it!  Let's hope the transfers work... some of them are old and some are iffy.. if they go tits up, I'm in trouble.

Got the top of the starboard wing done!!

Anyway... I just wanted to stop because I saw something that makes me sad and kind of pissed off a little bit. On Facebook some ol' boy posted a bunch of pictures of his builds. Well, they look pretty good!! Not too shab at all!! Nothing to write home about but not terrible or a practical joke or anything either...

Well, only one thing, his canopy frame work painting isn't too good. One person asked why people don't pay more attention to the frame work? It was an honest critique... no problem there, then I offered up advice on how to clean them up with a tooth pick so long as he's using the type of paints it works well on, and others offered up helpful advice and encouragement... then.... THIS:

:-\ :-\ :-\

Also there was another animated gif (like the top one, it actually plays for a moment and shows Lucy kicking Snoopy into the dumpster) but it didn't show up all of a sudden. But... man.. it's like...  I hope the guy doesn't see that BS. I know he's looking in on the comments because he liked my post that said, "Lookin' good there!" and that was posted even after the earlier stuff about the toothpicks and all..

Like... what the hell is the point? I hope maybe the person(s) posting those are perhaps good friends with the fellow and maybe it's an inside joke like a bunch of fellas working on a job site... but somehow I doubt that.

Man, I know if I had seen something like that in response to my builds back when they were uhhh.... more crappy? than they are now ( ;D) that it would really made me upset and would have put me off building at least for a while.

All transfers on but the two I forgot!!  ;D ;D

Glued the canopy on, too.

Man this sucker looks SHARP!

Ok, ok... I'm stoked and would love to get this done this evening but my micro fiber cloth will not be adequate to glue on the fiddly things like gear and gear doors.. I need to be able to do a better job of holding this sucker so I'm going to go ahead and sit on my hands until I can get to the store to buy a cheap pair of cotton gloves. I believe the Dollar Tree down here has them or maybe Family Dollar for a mere dollar or two so it won't break the bank, it just sucks waiting! I want to see all the stuff on here! Right now it's just a plane-body but it looks so cool.   So..... I can't imagine how much more cooler it will be with the rest of the bits!!

So, that concludes the model festivities for the day.

EDIT:

OH wait!!! Hold up!! I painted the engine cowling yellow, (the whole thing) and then cleared it so I can just hold on to that while I glue things on! Don't need no gloves after all!!!  I will try to glue on what I can and if things get too difficult, I can always set 'er back down.    For now, however, we're pressing on...   ;)
-Sprues McDuck-

TheChronicOne

I'm an idiot!!!

I was all like, "I need to find these instructions so I can continue!!"

So, I found them, then ignored them.

Long story short I didn't glue the gear in correctly. I put them in straight up and down... like at a 90 degree angle to the wings.... turns out they angle forward about 10-15 degrees (from 90).  :banghead:

Bam, there goes half an hour of fixing it...

Still, now, I'm back on track!!!  I will definitely be done tonight!!
