AHEM, ....    Let's wheel and deal!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: I don't suppose I could pry some of those elusive UPS decals out of your hands while we're at it??   ;D     Speaking of, Revell just put out a 737-8F in UPS livery...

I'm sure we can, I have no plans for that set.  ;D

Which UPS decals are you interested in? I think I have all of them, but they're all the old style with an all over brown fin and single brown cheat line. The Revell -8F is in the more flashy modern scheme, I saw it at the Telford Show and it looks pretty smart.

I want every last one of them!!  ;D    I like the old scheme better anyway....  it was a classic, ageless design.

But then I won't have any of them!  :o

I'll see how they re-print, the brown will be fine but the gold letters may not 'translate' too well.

I'm here to pillage the village. lol    Well, I mean... I'd like to have one of each of course, not necessarily every last one you have, unless that IS what you have then I guess I DO want 'em all.

I want all the ones you can live without...  let's put it that way. I remember you told me that a set was made and if I could somehow get one example of the complete set, I suppose that's what I'm truly after but being what they are, I'd be happy with whatever you would be happy parting with, of course.

Check this out, you seen this yet?

RIP Mr. Bush 41

Best looking engine I've seen.  ;D    (I'm a huge sucker for the "presidential" livery).     I even saw an OV-10 Bronco in it one time...  in a 1/48 kit.

That GE looks really good in that scheme, I give it a week before Athearn have it available in HO scale, and Kato have it in N scale!

I'll work on the UPS stuff and PM you Brad, but it may take a few days as I'm off doing a week long lecture tour from tomorrow.

Speedy update. I've been getting lazy on these of late.  ;D

Not many plans for today. I'm not sure what is going on. I started organizing and cleaning things up the other day in preperation to work on builds but I was having fun so kept going. I wound up cleaning and organzing my work area here for... like...3 hours before I started building. I'm starting to realize that a lot of my frustration and problems arise from not having everything I need close by and organized. I'm going to think about trying to get a system going. I'll put everything on the desk or in the desk that I use all the time and move some of this stuff I never seem to use to "cold storage" or whatever. I can't tell you how many times where I gave up on a project for the day because I wasn't wanting to spend half an hour digging through things to find a single item. My metal rule for instance... that thing needs to be right here, at all times. I've lost so much time simply looking for that damn ruler.

As far as builds... I'd like to get the wings(737) finished painting. I just need to paint on the NMF parts then the nav lights and landing lights. They'll look great! It's a shame I can't put the engines on. I've learned that the replacement engines by BRA.Z. are all kinds of wrong in shape and size. Why in the hell go to the trouble to make aftermarket parts if they are worse or no better than the originals???  I guess they're marginally better than the originals because of the extra fins and bits and bobs but sheesh....     so I learned that Authentic Airliners make a set but they are out of stock right now. I'll just have to be patient until I find some.

Haven't updated on the ciggies lately but I'm doing well so far today. Even with coffee and the rest I've not had a single smoke yet and I didn't smoke any yesterday either. I got to playing poker the other night in the video game and learned that that is a trigger.  ;D :o  I'll have to watch that but thanks to poker I kind smoked more than I had been recently.     Part of this whole experience is finding what triggers me and to avoid it. It's no wonder of wonders people at the casino sit around and chain smoke. Any how... I've sort of lost track again but I'm on the third pack I've purchased since Nov. 23. Today is Dec. 5 so that's not too bad. Right at two weeks.  Not moving as fast as I was that first week but I'm still way ahead of where I projected myself to be so I'm quite pleased.

Quick update on other types of things. I FINALLY got word back on the contract addition for the trash pick up service I provide at a local shopping center. I was afraid of this...  they shot me back an offer that was about 40% of what I wanted.  :banghead:   Buuuuuuut......       it just so happens that the number was my "fall back" absolute rock-bottom that I would accept so......... .       I guess I'm happy with it!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D   A raise is a raise, damnit! I've been doing this new stuff now for a month and a half and have fallen into a nice system and to be honest, the extra work load hasn't been very much and as a result, the entirety of the rest of the property stays a lot cleaner which in turns cuts the time it takes to do it down so in the end it all evens out and works quite well. I probably should have fought for more money but uhhh......    I can do that another day. 2 years ago my income during the winter was $0 so this is a vast improvement.

Itching to play my video game (sans the stupid poker table) so I'm going to probably keep my model building brief. I DO want to at least get those wings masked and the NMF sections painted. This is the rare instance I use enamel paint (it just looks miles better than the metal color of acrylic I have) but takes longer to dry so after that I'll let them sit awhile before I paint on the nav lights and landing lights but at that point, the wings would be done (as far as I am aware).

If anything else, I might work on the canopy fitment disaster on the racing glider. It's looking like I'll have to add a wee bit of something at the rear to close up a gap and then... also....  figure out how to make it skinnier via clamping and gluing or.... something....   perhaps I can sand on the outside of it at the very bottom where the frame work is and get that area to match up. That would probably be best but I'd have to be careful. One side is already pretty thin. I can mask the clear part to keep from damaging it. We'll see....

Oh man, watching the Bush funeral. The feels, man, the feels.  Godspeed, Mr. President.

Anyway...    I'm eating lunch now and as always I think I may have eaten too much.  ;D  Fish and hush puppies.

Going to work on those 737 wings now and get the NMF painted on then I'm going to do a tiny bit of work on the bloated glider canopy then I'm going to switch gears to video games. Same plan as earlier I guess, I just wanted to remark on the funeral and gloat about lunch.

I have to go back in and clean up around the edges, obviously, but the NMF is on the wings now and they look pretty good! Nothing left but the lights.

Through for now. I might get back to work on stuff later but for now I'm going to try to get into the video game for awhile.

Here's an interesting thing I came across the other day. I have a really nice die cast 1/127 scale Boeing 737 Eva Air desktop model that I threw together the other night. I looked at the stand and said..... "Huh, well, I'll be damned!!"   Remember Kit's S.T.A.N.D. model????  Well, look at this thing.......

;D ;D ;D

This shares lineage with some type of F-117 toy or model and they modified it a wee bit to make a stand. It works pretty well I guess but all I see is Nighthawk.  :o

DogfighterZen

That stand sure resembles the F-117...could be turned into some sort of flying thing with the right parts...

I'm going to measure it at some point, I'd be willing to bet money that it's in 1/72.  ;D ;D

That stand looks VERY Whiffable, yes.

Brad, you want to try and turn it into an airliner?  ;) ;) ;D ;D

That sounds like one of those impossible challenges....  I'd have to start with a 1/48 airframe and scale o rama it to 1/144 and then,......  uhhhh.....  it would be the weirdest thing ever!!!!  But, it gets the gears churning. Not sure what the rationale for one would be, BUT, a stealth airliner would  be fun!!!!!!!
