Could be a fever dream, but I'm pretty sure his house is an airport, as well. Small airfield but nice long runway. House right by it? Something like that.

If I ever hit the lotto big time I'm going to do that. Whether or not *I* ever actually fly a damn thing, I'm going to live in an airport. Small or large....  could just build an airstrip and let it sit there and people flying can stop in and rest, refuel, eat or whatever or could go the large route and make it big enough for commercial traffic.. staff it, make it profitable, keep it in reg. and all that.....     ALL I KNOW IS I'M LIVING IN AN ACTIVE AIRPORT!  ;D ;D  Might have nice thick insulation in my house and barriers outside but still!

And...apparently, Travolta no longer owns the 707 (see linked article above)

Livin' the dream!!!   I remember hearing about him no longer having the 707.  I bet she was starting to become more trouble than she's worth to keep up with annuals and finding parts, keeping it running, and all that....    Good on him for keeping it in such great shape though, and now it's on display as a fine example!

Worked on the AT-28D and worked on the AN-12BKM. A little painting here, a little gluing there.....  you know....  all that good stuff. Painted the engine and ejection system for the Nomad and did some gluing, dry fitting, sanding, filing on the AN-12. A decent amount of work done.  <_<

Anyway!! I need some help. I need to clear out my stash of 1/48 aircraft. I'm wanting to move it all at once. I don't have the inclination to piece it all out and sell it individually or anything like that. I want to box it all up in as few boxes as I have and sell it to one individual. I know this massacres the potential for profit but I'm not interested in profit. I need to get this stuff out of here so someone can enjoy it and so that I can get SPACE back to put other things.

So, to that end, are there any 1/48 enthusiasts that might be interested in helping me out? I'm not looking to get rich, but I need money because this time of year is rough on me and more over I need this stuff gone. I'll get together a list of everything and can do pictures I guess but I just would like to know if anyone would like to purchase a hefty lot of 1/48 aircraft kits. I don't want to just GIVE it away as I've invested a lot of money, myself, into buying it all, but like I said, I'm not looking to get rich, either. I hadn't originally planned on abandoning the scale but it turned out that I've turned into a 1/72 snob.  ;D     (and 1/144 for civil/airlines! )      PLEASE HELP!!! I have too much anxiety and not enough time and gusto to do this any other way... I need to do this all at once!

Going to start work on this project tonight. First, I bought a 520 disc holder for DVD type discs and I will be emptying boxes of those into the holder. Someone gave me a few  hundred DVD movies a couple years ago and they're in boxes that I'd like to use to pack the kits into. So, I'm going to take the discs out of the holders, throw the holders in the garbage, then use the cardboard boxes for the kits.

That project went on well into the night but I made some good head way. I only have mere days now to wrap up winter time house projects so I think I'll get right back to it today after paying work is finished. Going to focus on the 1/48 kits.  Going to try to at least get them together in one place and get a list going, perhaps take some pictures. The end game will be to have them all boxed up and ready to ship out then all I need to do is get rid of them.

I'll probably work some more on the gunship, too, in the between times...   I figure I can do both projects at once if I'm smart about it. I need to glue in the windows and nose weight then I can close up the fuselage halves and start worrying about sanding the seams smooth.

I ain't really get any model work done.  :-\    I've been trying, though. I've spent a good amount of time on my CD clean up / 1/48 clean up project but more stupid internet drama has eaten away at the "in between" times I wanted to spend on my models.  It ain't me pissing all over trolls either (fun), it's the admin duties again(not so much fun sometimes). Every time I gather up my junk to work on it "such and such has reported this comment" pops up. The latest episode of The Orville features certain elements that have people hot and bothered and very opinionated. It's just one of those types of situations and every time an episode of this nature airs people lose their damn minds and start attacking each other and being mean to one another. It's bothersome because I have to keep up with it but it's also bothersome because people can be so nasty to each other!!!   It even starts to affect my mood after awhile. Seems a lot of this has been happening lately, too. I swear people need to get out more, me included.  Here in about a month when things start getting busy at work I'll have an excuse to not be glued to the computer and it won't be such a hassle and energy sink.

So uhhh.....  Well that's that!!  ;D ;D    I do have a little bit to report, though! I'm done with the CD organization and have turned multiple large-ish boxes of DVD discs and a few old CD booklets cleaned out and thrown in a bag for trash (weighs a ton and is huge!!! Great to have this stuff out of the house) . So much better having them in the 520 disc binder but this ridiculous thing itself is a bit much!!!! At this size it's sort of a pain in me arse to work with...  Too big for it's own size. I'm thinking next time I'll just buy multiples of a 300 count instead of this 520 disc behemoth. STILL, it's a million times better than the shithouse arrangement I had.  ;D        ANYWAY... to that end, I will now be shifting focus to the actual goal, which is to get these 1/48 kits out of here so I'll be starting that in earnest very soon. I might tonight because it's sort of late and I don't know if I want to drag out my projects.

I guess I'll sell them on eBay? I'm going to post them here first, of course, but I don't know if anyone wants these or not.  ;D  Some if it's pretty neat, I have a couple of the old Monogram P-40s in different boxings and then there's some modern stuff, too, joined with everyone's favorite doorstop, the 1/48 Black Widow which I have two of, sealed.

Lots of "real-world" stuff today. Work, errands, house chores and all that stuff. Finally found some time and spent it all working on the 737.  The hull is finally smooth.

So, now, it's time to work on the modifiend nose gear thingy and fairing, and the gravel deflector plate. To that end, I staged the plate on a piece of tape so it won't disappear. I'll be cutting out things from sheet styrene to make all the stuff that goes on it. Fantastic having this!!! "Making" it would have been a pain! I've also cut down the gear doors to the proper shape and size and they'll also get some new styrene glued on because part of the new fairing extends onto them. Got it all sitting in a little box so it doesn't get lost. Lastly, I used my reference stuff to measure out and plot the area where the new well/fairing goes and taped it off. Next round of work I'll use some milliput and start actually building it.

Like surgery...

Also did some stuff yesterday or whatever on the gunship.... cockpit and floor is in and next comes nose weight. More details in the thread for that over in the airplanes forum.

Now... I'm either going to go fly myself in Ace Combat 7 or get back to work on the 1/48 kit stash elimination. Last night I managed to get it all gathered up together so next comes the pictures and the listing. I THINK I was going to do this last night but obviously didn't... turned out it was later than I thought!

OK!  I wish I were working on my Gunship but I need to get this project done....   So, I'm trying my best. I got pictures taken. Next I'll make list of these and provide minor details is necessary... then I'll try to get them all boxed up and hopefully someone even wants them. Wound up being 17 kits in total:

Most of it is run of the mill stuff, but the three Hobbycraft Messerschmitts are noteworthy. Well, one is a Buchon...    Anyway, they're a little hard to find and nice kits. These aren't the ones people talk about when they mention "Hobbycrap".  I have one more from this line that was also a great kit, the Israeli Knife, but I'm keeping that one because it was a gift from my mother about 25 years ago. Not only that, it's a "pet" subject and one I'll build multiples of in different scales!

I've more pictures, as well. When I get the list typed up, I'll post everything in the sales forum and "let 'er rip" and hopefully someene wants them. If no one wants the lil fellers, I'll have to just post them on eBay and "let it ride."

AFTER THAT, I will be trying to box them up for shipping but I do believe I'll need to find another box or two......   Ideally I'd put them all in one box so I might hold off and try to find a single big box from a liqour store or something.

Once this is all done, though, I'm going to try to build some engines for me gunship!

Ok, they're up!!!

http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,46270.new.html#new

I still need to find a box and get them packed and get quotes for shipping from USPS. I suppose I'll get a quote for shipping to U.S., one for Canada, One for UK/EU, and one for Australia to start off.  I'm not sure how it all works but I guess this is a good start.

I'll work some more on the gunship today. Finally reached a point that wasn't exactly fun.... the stupid windows. They're so small and pretty poorly casted. It's pretty much impossible to get them to sit flush and level. They're entirely too small to hold and try to file even with micro files. SO.... it's taking EONS for each one. It took me an hour just to get four of them in.  ;D I have another 8 to go I do believe.

So, I'd like to get that done then maybe check on the Nomad. I've only been working on the gunship and 737 lately so it's been just sitting. I'll be painting more on the fancy ejection seat then see what else can be done with the interior with the end goal to be putting the tub in and starting to figure out nose weight.

Haven't done much on the 707. I'm in no hurry on it. I'm likely to not even start any actual build work for another couple weeks. I'm definitely going to gather as much referenece material as possible and even read up on kit reviews and the like. In many cases, I skip the reviews in order to keep myself from pulling out of a project. That started happening to me quite a bit....  so I decided to all but give up reviews..  But anyway.. I'm trying to make this thing really really nice so I'll go ahead and hop on that grenade and see what I can come up with.

Depends on the review.  If it's about fit, detail, flash etc then they are worthwhile to me.
If on the other hand they are intent on listing every slight (real or perceived) deviation from the 1:1 then i can skip them as that doesn't really bother me (usually).

I would agree with that - most 'flaws' are usually something I can live with anyway.

The 737's come out nice in the end, Brad - the pain and effort was worth it, IMHO.

Had you thought of replacing the Gunship's windows with white glue? (I assume you're talking about the small fuselage ones?)

I also meant to ask this.
You won't be able to see clearly through them (although they will be clearer than many limited run kit clear parts) but they will still pass light.

NARSES2

As far as reviews are concerned I tend to follow the same principles as I do with newspapers. I find a title/reviewer I feel shares similar views to me as to the approach to modeling and go with them.

Took me a while to settle down to that approach, but seems to work fine now.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

Any review that mentions the word 'pre-shading' is instantly by-passed in my case. All too common these days too.

When I did reviews for Scale Models Magazine back in the 70s I always tended to 'tell it like it is', and the Editor, Ron Moulton then, always tried to get me to tone it down somewhat, but I refused, saying that fellow modellers NEEDED to know what was right and wrong with any kit.

Perhaps that's why I didn't last too long doing it, only 2-3 yrs.  ;D ;D ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
