Thanks, brotha!! I admit to being confused about the time. I guess I'm good to go then! I'm actually 99% finished with it now. I glossed it the final time and just need to PVA on the canopy and take pictures.

I know what it was about the time. I gave myself a Saturday deadline because I knew I wouldn't have any time Sunday. Thus the confusion about that. I swear, that tooth pain and all the meds will inhibit your ability to think clearly. Speaking of, that situation has improved greatly. I'm just going to have to be very careful not to hurt the tooth again until I can get some dental insurance. If I can hang on, the enrollment period isn't too far off.

It's feeling much better today though so I  would like to work in the yard today before I come inside and get back on the gunship. I need to weed the iris garden and spray weeds it numerous other areas. I need to trim the mimosa tree (poor feller) and trim the rose bush. There's some other tidying up to do as well but I'd like to definitely get the Iris thing cleaned up and the weeds sprayed.

Whatever time and energy is left after that goes to the gunship. Time to unmask it. I'm just going to get right into that before I do anything else. This is the thing that worries me most. Sure, getting the gear on will be a pain but this stuff here could really go tits-up fast so I want to get it done and over with.

Hey, any of yous guys ever play around with alternatives to weed killers? Today I'm trying straight undiluted bleach, then I'm going to go back and put a bunch of salt in areas like gravel.  Looking for decent, cheap home remedies that will be on par with Roundup. I've heard vinegar works, too, etc.

Damn, but it's hot outside. I'd like to trim some stuff and pull weeds after I spray but I might not make it in this heat and be back inside pretty soon to work on the Gunship!!!!!  Could potentially be done with it today. Doubtful, but the possibility exists if the un-masking process goes much better than expected.

Would like to start on my goofy stretch Caravelle today. Ran into a small issue the other day concerning the decals. I seem to have either misplaced or straight up mis-remembered something because I can't seem to locate the Aeroflot stuff I wanted to use. I'll figure this mystery out this evening hopefully.

I can think of one, but unless you have access to the local cat's home you won't be able to get enough of it to make it feasible.  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Weeeeell....  looks like I'm going for the gusto with the gunship today. I'll have all afternoon and evening to work on it between bouts of house chores and prepping for work. Not by choice; I WAS going to go back outside and work more in the yard but I'm a pansy and can't take this heat and sunlight. Making me sick just driving around running errands so I threw in the towel on that project. Thankfully, I got a lot done yesterday so it's not a big loss. Good news is though I have time for fun!  :o ;D

SO, I need to un-mask the gunship. I'm going to jump right in and do that first because I know after I see it un-masked it will be a large motivation boost to go ahead and work on the rest of it and try to get it finished. All I did yesterday was gloss over the decals. I just hope the un-masking goes well.. I'm worried about it because I've had so many problems before but I'm slowly working out the kinks in my method. This still could go wrong, even with improved method, so we'll see....   I'm especially worried about the round windows. I can just envision nasty paint lift making some rippled edge all around those.  :o

I'm such a dullard... I always seem to focus on minor things it seems like but I swear one of my favorite parts of this build so far are the props and spinners. I love the colors! What a combo!

I find myself often being a color-oriented person and a large part of the appeal of models are when they have colors that I like. I'm not sure how many others like me are out there because I find tons of comments like, "superb weathering" etc. while I'm over here like, "Wow I like that blue and green on there... "

Enough bloviating for now. I'll check in later with results on the de-masking. At about that time, I'll need to update the thread for it but decidedly no more pictures of anything (but maybe the props again after I put the decals on them) until I'm done. Don't want to spoil the reveal.  ;D

;D    The "natural" approach.

I went with bleach....     Nothing in the lawn or flower garden areas, mind, I'm not mad, but in concrete and gravel areas.  Did NOT dilute it. Not sure if I sprayed it on heavy or light or what but it seemed "adequate." I know if I had sprayed that amount of Roundup on it, the whole area would be definitely dead so we'll see. Later on I'm going to salt the earth in these places. Nothing ever will need to grow there so I'm not worried about over doing it but I would like to see just how much it'll take to be effective.

I'm a professional.  ;D

Came up with a lazy but effective way out of the conundrum concerning removing the masking on the round windows. Cut them out is going to be a huge pain. So... I'll just use the round window kit decals for those and just unmask all the stuff up front. It'll be a hybrid! It's a pretty good solution because those round side windows looked like crap anyway.

BESIDES... tinted windows could very well be a design element for this thing because of all the bright snow the occupants are having to look at. Brilliant!   ;D    So anyway... laziness proves once again to bring about the best solution in the end.

BLOVIATING????  :o

From Wikipedia.  Bloviation is a style of empty, pompous political speech popularized by United States President Warren G. Harding, who, himself a master of the technique, described it as "the art of speaking for as long as the occasion warrants, and saying nothing".  The verb "to bloviate" is the act of creating bloviation. In terms of its etymology, according to one source, the word is a "compound of blow, in its sense of 'to boast' (also in another typical Americanism, blowhard), with a mock-Latin ending to give it the self-important stature implicit in its meaning."

I tend to be a colour person I must admit. The Me 109 I'm currently finishing came with 3 very attractive schemes in the box, but I chose the one which was both slightly unusual and quite attractive, to my eyes at least. It was a close call, but the other scheme that attracted me is also offered, or at least a similar one is, in AZ's boxing of the Me 109 K14, so I'll do that one from that boxing

Yes!!! I am horrid at taking pictures! I think one problem is my camera, though. It's about 8 years old now and was always a secondary function of a smart phone rather than a dedicated camera. Still, even with better equipment *I* still am a big dummy when it comes to pictures.

This is a reminder to go ahead and purchase a good dedicated digital camera then after that I can see what problems I'm still having and try to fix myself as a lousy photographer.
