This again. But... interesting. This is making INTERNATIONAL news.

This is about a 30 minute drive from here in a neighboring community. So.. murder/suicide. 3 adults.  BUT... remember about two weeks back there was the same thing but it was FOUR people instead of 3 including two young children. This was only a couple miles away. So.... one of these makes international news, but the other one, the WORSE incident, does not. The only difference? This one today happened in a Wal Mart parking lot. For some reason, that makes it worthy of international media attention whereas the much worse triple murder of a mother and her two young girls followed by a suicide didn't even make STATE news.      This type of thing irks me.

Sad stuff... it is intriguing why the second occurrence is getting much more attention than the worst case... i've no idea as to why it is so but it doesn't make much sense. Hope that this doesn't happen again, we've seen this type of thing happening before, it has to stop. :banghead:

Sensationalism I guess. One story, while much sadder and much worse, isn't one they can use to whip people into a fury. That's the way I figure it at least.

Inching toward completion on the Skyraider! Thinking about doing some more work on the Tristar after that. I need to smooth out the finish on the engines. I need to gloss the nose again after my repair, so I can put the windscreen on. These two things shouldn't take too long so if I have time after the Skyraider work today.... that's the plan!

It happened in a public place with multiple witnesses, many of whom probably shared the event on social media, therefore activating the "public interest" reflex of the news media. I don't know the other event but I'm guessing that it happened in a private home with few-to-no witnesses, so no-to-few social media posts, & was "old news" by the time the news media found out about it.

I almost mentioned this earlier because it's in the same vein. Since I saw it on my timeline review and I posted it this very day a few years ago, I'll go ahead and mention it (I dont't like to ignore such coincidences!).  Anyway... a helicopter went down in the Eastern part of the state I believe it was and 4 people lost their lives. ALL the news could talk about was that two of them were coaches of some sorts on the the Oklahoma State University (sports) team. So many reports and newscasts would blather on about these sports heroes but in many instances the other people didn't even have their names mentioned or only merited about 3% of the report. Some people are just more important than others.   But... imagine being a family member of one of those other people?    Seeing one of these reports?

We didn't get to hear about either event.  Such news is only reported here if an Australian is involved.

One of the biggest drivers as to whether news is reported or not is column inches and bulletin minutes. If the outlets have some to fill then this type of thing is more likely to make the news. It can also appear days or weeks after the occurrence, again to fill inches/minutes, although this is more likely to be in overseas outlets. They will make no mention of the fact it is old news but report it as new.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Haven't heard anything re: convictions but I seem to recall the murder being reported way back when.

Ah! Proof of concept! It's been awhile. It was......... 5 years or so ago I think. Maybe a little more. It was pretty high profile for the time because it was a thrill killing and it made national news here. Another one of those coincidences (because of Duncan and the mention of things mentioned involving Australians)!

Decalled and weathered the Skyraider.

Yesterday the replacement transfers for the 737 arrived. This time they had the common sense to fold the directions and NOT the sheet.  This is awesome....  I'm going to throw some decal fix on the cheatlines to hedge my bets then get them applied and glossed over. It's time to get this thing going again. Next task is some difficult masking but I hope I can figure it out.

Other weird things today, too! Saved a dog from being smashed on the highway (it was bad, poor baby was IN the highway and it created a very dangerous situation let alone her own safety.... )... had to eventually use my truck like a horse (she was skiddish) and had to herd the thing completely out of the city into the country where eventually locals arrived and we banded together to herd then secure the dog. Another case of @#%@$!@$!#% dumping there pets.

This took an hour then on the way home I saw where a car coming off an on ramp tried to outrun a semi then got turned sideways and pinned to the bumper and pushed sideway down the highway.  ;D  Serves them right.

Been and interesting few days around here. I won't get into detail about the neighbors going ape-poo-poo and house fulls of possession being hurled into the yard.  ;D

Thanks!!! Story time! I think it's a pretty nice, interesting story, so I'll share:  I had things to do but wasn't no way in hell I was going to let that baby get hit. I'd rate the chance of it occurring where I first fouond her at 99%. Rogers Lane is a busy by-pass freeway with high speeds and an impenetrable barrier the entire length on one side (military base) and long, long stretches of no outlets on the other side as well. Rogers Lane is a killing a field.

Then it got even worse, believe it or not... I got her off the main part of Rogers Lane but then she ran down the wrong lane of off ramp coming from the highway where the speed limit is about 20MPH higher and there is a bend, hard to see around.... I thought that was going to be the end of it all but I told myself not to chicken out and get my arse down there and make it happen. Broke multiple traffic laws during all this and having to drive through things I'm not supposed to...   Eventually she cross over into the empty area on the other side of the curve and went farther from the highway where the herding became really easy. I knew at this point we were safe... I even got her headed down an old country road where i knew if I just followed along we'd be safe and eventually she would tire out. Well, about that time the "locals" started showing up and that's where I left off yesterday.

I really felt like I accomplished something that day.

End of story time!! I just wanted to share how it happened because it was rather harrowinG! Makes for a decent short story I hope?  Probby be better if I edited it for grammar but whatever.   ;D

So now...... I don't think I can do much to the Skyraider. I can glue on a couple things but that's it. Waiting on clear for that one so I'll get busy on the 737 and see what I can muster up. We'll have pictures of that later. I'm going to go ahead and decal the entire top half of it. I'll save the bottom for later since it's not painted yet.......

Good thing you came around, the poor baby must have been so scared.

Hilight of my week, man!! Yesterday was a really good day in general. That stuff with the doggy... and before that when I was at work the property manager was there so it's always nice to be "caught at work." I only ever see her about twice a year and the owner of the company that pays me... well, I've NEVER seen him so it's good to have people see me working so they know they're getting what they pay for. Work was really easy that day and the entire property looked like a million bucks and trash free and just the day prior I had switched out all the garbage bags so all the trash cans were nice and fresh so.... basically, the property couldn't have been in any better shape so it was the PERFECT time for the property manager to arrive.

Applying decal film to the transfers then I'll cut them out and stick 'em on! We'll have some pretty colors on the airliner later. I'm looking forward to it!! I've been waiting for the moment for 14 months, damnit!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oh.. by the way.. does anyone know what thins/cleans decal film??  I've been using white spirits followed up by a rinse with vinegar to get it out of my brush but I'm not sure if I'm getting it all out and/or using the proper stuff.

Perfect timing for the boss to show up!

Regarding the decal film, i remember i used alcohol to clean my airbrush as with the paints i use. Didn't have a problem with the airbrush after that so, guess it works well.

Cheers!  Good thing, I have some on hand.

EDIT:   Set number four of 737 transfers is currently in the process of going tits up. Even after I put the decal film on, the things were falling apart and I couldn't get the stuff to conform to the nose. I came close with use of Microsol but the results were looking bad and the edges were starting to chip away so I'll have to grab some of my reserves and this time I'll try TWO coats of decal film.

Putting it up for now, though, and am going to work on the Skyraider. I found a wee bit of satin clear so I'm going to use that and hope I have enough to cover. Should knock the gloss out of this just fine I hope although I was wanting to go full matte this time. Could be a few days before I get to the store so may as well use up this Satin and see if it gets me across the goal line.
