nope, I'm no expert, brotha. I just happen to be a big F-16 fan and (like many others probably) have spent countless hours reading on lots of stuff related to it. Besides, even if I knew enough for something like that, there's a ton of info already available on the Viper and all its variants.
I'm glad to help if I can, but don't ask me how many pounds of pressure the main gear tires need...

I've seen the box for that F.16XL many times, but not seen the kit before. Certainly looks good, but then it's Monogram who when I was a kid were up there at the top of the tree, and I  still have a soft spot for them.

This month's 'Flypast' magazine shows a pic of the Edwards AFB XL having been repainted in a two grey camo scheme!

I have one of those F-16 XL kits and it's not bad. Needs a new cockpit more than anything else. Planning on combining it with a Hasegawa Israeli F-16 Sufa kit to make an XL Sufa. Can't decide if I should just swipe the needed parts from the Sufa kit and leave it as a plain F-16 or cast what I need. The fuselage spine would have to be lengthened anyway as the XL is longer.

Cheers! I'm honestly starting to feel a bit guilty about the whole Star Trek modelling bit. I admin over on the Trek builders page on FB but I haven't put up a new build of my OWN in over a year and frankly that's a bit weird. Everyone else is cranking out builds but here I am over here twiddling my thumbs. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing my part to contribute. 

What I SHOULD do is finish the Klingon D-7 I started years ago. I kind of considered it "done" but I didn't do anything like fill gaps or even put decals on it. I just did it to keep myself occupied while I was ill for awhile. In fact, other than everything I've done since 2016 when I started again, that was the one model I had done in the 20 years between stopping and starting again. It deserves to be finished. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I tried to make it a red and black affair but looking back on it now it seems might plane and boring and just not a very good piece of work. When I do pick it up again, I plan to fix all my mistakes and try to make it fancy pants somehow.

Well, I know one thing.....  I'm certainly no expert so almost anyone knows more about some of this stuff than me and for being possibly my favorite jet fighter my lack of knowledge on the F-16 is ... well... laughable.    Cool part is I'll learn more about it every time I build one.

Them Edwards boys have all the fun. Seems like a hot spot for well painted aircraft. I have some Edwards kits in the stash, too, just because of how they painted up the aircraft...  I'm a sucker!

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic. Another GLORIOUS day in airliner model building.   

I followed all rules, directions, and protocols to the letter. Nothing is new or unusual. Clean surface. Paint can is nice and warm, but not too hot. No wind. Shook the can the requisite 60 seconds. Sprayed out whatever was in the line before I started applying. Started the spray before I swept across the subject at the requisite no less than 12 inches no more than 18. And......... this thing shot out a ton of DRY powder onto the model I just busted me arse wet sanding.



Looks like the stuff sprayed on ceilings back in the 80's.

For a split second I saw this clearly in my mind at the bottom of the trash can. BUT... you know me.... I don't bin things that can be fixed simply. I'll just have to let it dry up then go back in for some more sanding and try again. Next time I'll test the can of paint on some cardboard or something. Lesson learned.

WEEEEELP.  That about does it for me today.     737 is in the hangar waiting on the paint team to arrive from Europe. The F-16XL can be started I suppose. I guess I'll go make a thread for it and might clip out some parts but I'm not going to get started on it just yet. Probably tomorrow before I get fully underway.

So much this....... it seems such an obvious precaution in hindsight. I'll never make that mistake again!       I'll start collecting test material for spraying and should be good to go from now on. I just hope my whole can of paint isn't bad. I ran out some of the paint after I put the Tristar down and it seemed to clear up after a few seconds but I thought I would have avoided it by clearing the can some before I started spraying the plane. Guess not! 

Well... y'all just keep helping me along and eventually I'll not be having so many issues. 


Quick update on the F-16XL. I've elected not to place it in the out of retirement GB because I'd have to do some mental gymnastics with the backstory to make it fit and that seems paramount to cheating. After all, the scheme and markings I plan to use are from the early/mid 80's and since it was officially retired in 2009 it just doesn't fit.

I too would have been tempted to bin it, but then stashed it away somewhere till a later date.

Thanks! I think I'll be alright.    I was "in the moment" and couldn't help what happened on this side... but the other side is still smooth. I'll just have to get out my PSR supplies and make it right again and be thankful that at least it's not across the entire thing.    Thing is I'll have to remove my masking so I can sand close in those areas and then re-apply it. Still... frustrating but no biggie. I just wish I could somehow appease the airliner Gods. Maybe they're pissed because I keep doing things like adulterating Caravelles. 


EDIT: Oh, in the meantime, I suppose I could use this thing to sand other projects and save a bit of sand paper.

Artex.  Made painting the ceiling even more of a PitA than usual.

Make sure you label that rattle can Brad C  You wouldn't want to pick it up and forget it's history, take no precautions and wreck another build.
Don't ask me how etc...

Artex, huh?  My house has it. Daddy had it remodeled about.... oh 1984 or 1985 and we got the Artex. I was a little kid at that point and I remember eating some of the little metal squares that were applied with our coat to give it a bit of twinkle. My house now, it ain't going anywhere. I want to hit the lotto someday (that would be a neat trick indeed seeing as how I never play) and remodel again but uhhh... wish in one hand.  Thinking back, it's sort of a weird thing to put on a ceiling but it really doesn't look bad but.... wow, I can imagine painting it. Eating up gallons of paint and dripping and stuff.
