Don't forget that the AMRAAMS go on the rails underneath those fairings in the middle of the wing... also, the pylons for the missiles on the outer wing of the normal viper are tall enough to carry AMRAAMs and have enough room for flaperon action so those shouldn't be different on the XL.
What i'm not sure about is the carriage of the HARM missiles there, i think they're too heavy and the drag that would result from it would probably reduce the fighter's range quite a bit. That's just my opinion, of course. It's your model and you choose what goes and what doesn't so, i'll take whatever you decide. And although i think that the HARMs shouldn't go there, that loadout configuration does look good like that.

Right on!! Thank you, I had no clue the pylons could go there under those fairings.  That opens up new options so I'm going to play musical ordnance once again.  ;D

Per the 120s, the only reason I want them at all is because nothing else will fit where they would have went (without sawing holes) back by the fuselage. In short, it's either put the AMRAAMS back there, or put nothing there.... I only had two options to work with, the B-61 nuke and the cluster bomb and neither would fit so I figured instead of putting nothing back there, I'd go ahead and use the AMRAAMS.  ;D

On track now, though... knowing I can put stuff under that fairing gives me even more real estate to work with so it should be easier than ever to make things fit.    I think you're right about the 88s and I was hesitant about putting them out there so now I think I can at least move them inboard to help matter a bit and may even be able to get them closer to the fuselage by putting the nuke and cluster bomb further out.

ONE goal today. Get a coat of paint on the Tristar. The weather is cooperating and this coat of paint standing in the way of the next phase of operation. SO.... that's that. Otherwise I'm playing video games all day and swilling beer.

Let's hope the paint works this time. I'm going to spray out a bunch onto a cardboard piece or onto... something.. outside before I start hitting the plane to avoind the mountain crag stuff I got last time.

Wish I had time for other things but I need to do some house chores and I'm trying to pan fry some fish here in a bit. I'm not good at pan frying fish but I learned some lessons last time.... but uhh...still probably going to take awhile.

This is a proof that God (HimSelf, yes, for sure) is interested in this Tristar, if existing (this Tristar, or God)... ;)

It worked! The coat of paint is very nice. There are a couple specks of dust in the coat but I will remove those when I polish it before I apply the clear coat.

Q'pla!

Success!

What to do today....   I'm not in a very good mood and don't feel like doing anything, really, but if I can shake this crap off I'd like to get the Tristar polished up and throw a clear coat on it. Then.....time for transfers! Everything from the cheatlines on up can be applied. So.... uhhh... the cheatlines, windows, names, door framings, fin decoration, and whatever else can go on. That'll likely be 90% or more of the transfers. After I get these on, I'll seal them up with clear and let it dry a few days then it's time to mask and get the bottom and the wings painted.

Seems like a pretty good plan.

Sure does, get ir rolling, you've been making me become more interested about airliners and now i need my civil fix so get off your duff and get to work!  ;D

On it! Ran out of gusto yesterday and ran out of time today but I have all sorts of plans for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be "Decal Day."

I have the Saudi decals in from Kit. Thanks, hoss!!! And I'm nearly ready to decal the Tristar, too. So... I'll do both tomorrow. Or... well, try to anyway.

Am I dreaming?!?!?!  ;D ;D ;D

You know... now that this has worked... I've called a complete halt to all model activities for the rest of the day. I AM NOT PUSHING MY LUCK.

Let this sit a day or so then time to get the windows, name, doors, etc. on.

I can't believe it. I'd just about given up on the possibility of this ever being done as Saudia.

Just like Strobez' DC10, it does me a power of good seeing those decals doing what they were designed for thousands of miles away from here. And less than a month ago they were sitting in my 'Small Boeing' decal envelope and had been there for 30-40 years!

RESULT!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Yes, there's something quite satisfying about seeing things wind up where they belong. It's creating balance in the universe! It's a beautiful thing, brotha!!!! Thank you!!

It's great to have a thing, even better to use it.

Now I start looking ahead. It's strange to think ahead rather than laterally but tomorrow I put on more decals and at some point gloss them over so I can finish painting. Aside from the vortex dissipators, all construction is finished. Otherwise, painting and decals are all that's left aside from gluing on the final little parts like the gear and gear doors. I could potentially have this finished within a week or two but most certainly it will be finished.
