Good idea. It's VERY narrow but I could drill holes dead center and it wouldn't affect the fitment any as 97% of the slots would still be there. I'll have to rig that up this afternoon. Once I get into yellow it'll be handy.

OH hell... I forgot to ask my question. That was the whole reason I showed up.   ;D  OK..   so.... when did the wire aerial antennas go out of favor???   I'm seeing lots of pics of Lysanders (and NOT modern restos using modern nav and comms) that don't have the wire antennas but then some do.......   so.....   uhhhh.....   Well, first off, what are these? I THINK they're short range communication but my searching so far on the net isn't getting me much. By 1956 would it be plausible that the Israelis had newer equipment and no longer needed the wires outside the plane?

My Lysander turned out nice!!!   I love it.... my first IAF aircraft.      Go check it out in the Retirement GB forum. I still want to take outside pictures but it's finished up now. Man what a strange ordeal.... the whole wings to canopy stuff is just foreign to me and I've never built anything that went together like this did. Odd little plane if you ask me....

With the deadline build out of the way I'm not sure how to proceed. I need to finish decalling parts of the nose of my 737 before I clear it and mask over. I need to finish masking the Tristar and prime the wings and lower fuselage. I need to paint the red belly on the DC-9.......       in the vault section of current builds the Pluto awaits further refinement of the cockpit area I cut out....   I want to find out what the next GB is about and pick an a kit or two for it...... this a loose idea of what needs done.

I'm telling you.... this is more tedious than it looks.......

It would take a while regardless but in this instance I'm using the paper there to go over the area where decals are at. It's all on there now, though! All this crap will stay on here through subsequent phases of painting and a bit decalling as well. As I've remarked before, I'm going to use the non-touchable, no clearable paint on this one at some point so I need to paint and decal the grey anti-corosion parts before I do the NMF because it cant be masked over.

So that's the Tristar, ready for primer again!

After working on & finishing a phase of a build and finding myself not wanting to get into the next one but still wanting to be creative I found myself painting clothespins. Good way to burn off time late in the evening and use up old decals that won't work anywhere else and even old paint that would otherwise be tossed.

Turns out... it was pretty fun... I'd sit and watch my television shows, relax, and work on these.

Just neat little novelty things to have.

Also, though, I've been painting more on the DC-9 engines and even painted the red belly on the fuselage. I also worked a tiny bit on the Tristar engines. Other efforts involve finally glimpsing the next GB details and I've since decided to try to shove my P-4 Pluto into it. Rules say that part built build would be consided but the main rules state all work short of paint and glue (cutting, prep, etc.) are allowed and on my kit nothing has been painted and the only thing glued is the cockpit tub into the fuselage. I supposed I could count when the fuselage blew apart and I glued the pieces back together like gluing back a broken ceramic statue but... well... whatever.   We'll see.

The Lizzie came out well, nicely done!
I think if you have anything else like that again, that if you put a spar between the wings, then with the struts that should be secure enough that you don't have to count on the clear parts to be structural.

And the clothes pegs are a hoot! I like the way they have the correct 'lower' colours for the 'upper' camouflage schemes...  ;D

Pegs are fantastic  ;D

I'd patent the idea if I was you  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Brilliant idea with the pegs Brad C.
A lot of mine are painted but it's overspray rather that art.
Axis pegs next?

I know, man!! If I see these being commercially produced and sold in about a year or so I'm going to be pissed!  ;D

Cheers!!   You know... I actually considered going that route or pretty much a method really close to it. I was going to turn both wings and that one clear piece they connected to into one solid assembly and reinforce it all inside then attach the whole thing at the end but the other approach was also beckoning. It was basically a coin toss. Like you said, next Lizzie I build I will go the other route and see how it goes for me.

Thanks y'all.... anyway.... yeah the Combat Clamps there....     I have some more ideas. Whatever spare stuff I can find that fits, I'll try. I even have stuff like airliner remnants that might fit and race car decorations. I think I have some of those WWII unit designations or whatever they are.... you know... the neat little colorful triangle things. So... might have some airliner, racing, and armor clothespins. Most likely we'll be finding some Luftwaffe stuff, too, so we could very well see german roundels or even swastikas although I'm not so sure about the last one.

They call me "Mellow Yellow."  ;D

So....  I painted the red onto the DC-9 then masked it over. I had to throw out the method I took notes about because I stupidly forgot about the bulges at the wing roots. Of course, a long straight piece of tape isn't going to go over this correctly and stay straight so I had to break things down into 1/3s. For, aft, and the middle area where the wing roots are then I just sort of freestyled it. GOOD THING IS......  I had a glorious panel line running down the whole thing that I was able to align my Tamiya tape with so the bulk of everything is certainly straight. Only thing I'm worried about are the two points where it tapers and curves at the nose and tail.

I then painted the yellow paint on.  I'll unmask the red stuff after I let the yellow dry for at least an hour or more.

Yeeaaaaah! Coat hangers rule OK!

That does look VERY yellow!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Sometimes people impress me with their inability to admit they screwed up. Apparently this fellow thought he was somewhere else then when I pointed out that he was on the "WHAT IF" page he says, "I know."  Well, if you knew, then why ask such a daft question?

I posted my Lysander on the FB "WHAT IF MODELLERS" page.
