 ;D     Cheers!!!

Anyone else hear the rumor that .... I don't remember who or what it was.... was considering getting Firefly going again???  Just a few days ago I heard this but I don't remember the details.

If you're talking about the TV series that was disgracefully cut after only one season, then that'd be Joss Whedon.

Unfortunately (yet, also, fortunately), I don't think this'll happen: https://screenrant.com/firefly-season-2-serenity-movie-sequel-joss-whedon/

In some ways I hope it doesn't. I haven't seen very many resurrected series have the same energy & "pull" that the first series has ... Hell, some series' lose it going into the second season. A 17 year break is not going to be easy to cover & refining that particular blend of humour & action for older actors & a different TV-watching demographic is going to be difficult, at best.

It wasn't Joss that started the rumour, it came from something an exec, Michael Thorn, said (I had to go look it up, curiosity was killing me). I found it. Was just 3 weeks ago, pretty good read, not "fluff" like the romour itself, & what I get from it is "we're definitely willing, but sooooo many things have to fall into place that it's unlikely."):

Turns out the rumour is that it might happen but the overly enthusiastic fans are reading too much into it.  It would be great, but getting the necessary things in place would be a tall order.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. Half the characters are dead and it's been so long...   if it ever happened it would likely be something like Mal and maybe one or two original characters in a whole new setup doing new things. You're right, there's no way in hell they could just jump back into the (already finished) story that got it all started..

Might be time for a re-watch, though!!  I love the Alliance Skyscraper ships.  ;D  That was one thing I did NOT like about Serenity... they changed 'em and took my Space Skyscrapers away!

EDIT:  Bad grammar and found the Skyscraper ship:

Well, there we have it. I un masked my DC-9. It ain't perfect, but I like it. For taking on a rapid build pace and a "don't sweat the small stuff" attitude I think this will be fine. Trying to build an airliner for once that doesn't take EONS to finish.

And hell, sometimes "stud long; study wrong" applies. Attempting to fix tiny mistakes can lead to having to fix larger ones so if it's not a glaring mishap....I'm leaving it.

I'll have to burnish the edges of the yellow paint but she's ready for decals now. I still need to finish painting the wings. I ran into a discrepancy between my paint guide and photos of DC-9 wings but I could never find an actual picture of the upper side of a DHL DC-9 wings anywhere so I'm just going to assume that they painted their wings a little bit different than everyone else and roll with it. I just need to finish up a bit of masking and paint on some NMF then they can be cleared and have the wing walks applied.

Not much else past that.. I need to paint the 4 gear doors and once the decalling is done I need to paint grey on the fin where the tailplanes are but we're about done. Still undecided on whether or not to bother with the resin antennae.

I agree: the only way to do it would be to move the in-show timeline forward 10-20 years and essentially create a new show. Characters Shepherd Book and Wash are both dead post-Serenity. Actor Ron Glass (Shepherd Book) is dead and Summer Glau (River Tam) is now 38: she could pass playing a teenager when she was 21 but the growing-up difference is bigger for her than all of the other actors. I got the impression from interviews that Gina Torres (Zoe) wouldn't be very enthusiastic to do more Firefly, but I'll admit that was a good few years ago and her feelings might not be the same today.

Of course in some ways, the unavailabilty of actors and the need to move the timeline on could work together. The off-screen departure/death of characters who's actors aren't available could create 'unfinished business' that could very easily form the basis of dramatic plotlines, and if the new Firefly took off and initially unwilling acotrs had a change of heart, then they could always make a dramatic reappearance.

Firefly: Next Generation?

I think that Joss knew it was over when he made Serenity.  I has a feeling of finality to it. I think he used up all the ideas he was going to spread out in a long story arc over however many years it was planned to run for.
it does contain one of my favourite Sci Fi film sequences.  The part where the Firefly silently passes through the Reaver fleet.

Fuselage paint looks excellent Brad C.  What are you using?  Can I send you some model car bodies to paint for me? ;D  I sometimes have trouble getting them that shiny.  ;)

This is one of the more impressive colors I've used!  You know me...  my goal is to master rattle cans so...

The red is just as nice and the same brand but the yellow there... wowee. Only thing I thing I don't like is it doesn't react well with clear. This here is only about 2 coats but I had to put like 5-6 on the Lizzie and it crazed when I cleared it after decals. I guess I should have let it dry longer with all them coats but I waited over 2 days. I'm so worried about this one I went and bought some plastic spoons to experiment on. It happened once before, as well, on my Air California plane. Yellow cheatline.....  but I let that thing dry like....2 WEEKS and it still crazed so clear coat might be off limits on this DC-9...

Might be decalling this today. Gotta test a transfer if I can and there is a crease through the whole sheet so I might need some decal fix here and there.
-Sprues McDuck-

TheChronicOne

Stopped short of transfers. I got all the wing painting out of the way and cleared them then finished painting the engines. I also painted some detail stuff on the fin... hinges and APU intake. Tomorrow will be decalling time I guess.

Camera trickery.  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Aieeeeeee! I see the hand of the Chronic Ninja!!!

Thanks for the paint info.  I did an interweb search to find out if it is enamel.  I got conflicting answers.
