Try an acrylic clear coat. It shouldn't react with enamel paint.

Aieeeeeee! I see the hand of the Chronic Ninja!!!

Thanks for the paint info.  I did an interweb search to find out if it is enamel.  I got conflicting answers.

Wish I knew what the difference was... all the others same paints work fine...   it's just the yellow colored one acts up. I've yet to do any experiments. One I want to try is to put down the yellow then clear over it before the 15 minutes is up then maybe later on it will allow me to put a coat on after transfers whether it be 1 week or one month after.

But... hell, this stuff is so slick the decals are going to grab like mad and it's not as if i haven't built stuff before without using clear coat after to "Seal it in."  In fact, I have models from 30 years ago where I put the waterslides directly on top of matte acrylic paint and all these years later they're still on and not even chipping or anything. I would pick it up and start rubbing on it them or anything but then again I wouldn't do that in any scenario anyway....

Definitely want to try this. I'm planning a trip to HL pretty soon and I'm going to peruse. I've conisdered this before but my hesitation has always been that I don't see how I could get a smoother and clearer finish than I would otherwise or if I had just left it alone. The latter is the case in this one.... right now, the finish is so damn nice I don't think I could do anything other than make it worse if I were to try to add more layers to it so on this one at least I'm just going to put the transfers on and let 'er rip.

Recommend of a good brand??

These transfers are sketchy so I stopped and put decal fix on them all and left it at this for today. I'll get back at it tomorrow.

Thanks!!  Yes, I'm so happy with the way this one is going. Seems to look pretty good and hasn't been overbearing... I wish they all went like this.

The current DHL scheme  looks very good, and you're doing it justice with the DC9 Brad.

Not one you can buy over there.  Sorry.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

It's looking great right now! I say press on with what you are doing.

Thanks, y'all!! I am now motivated to press on. I'll be trying to get the rest of the markings on today after lunch. I hope all goes well. I put the decal fix on yesterday and it will have had 24 hours to dry (not that I think it's necessary, but it doesn't hurt any I guess) so this is the one thing standing in the way of completion.

I've decided to...... go ahead and USE the resin parts. This has gone well and hasn't eaten up a ton of time so why not spend a couple hours putting that detail on there? Someone went to all the trouble to produce the stuff so the least I can do is not just throw it in a box somewhere.  (Hope I ain't making none of yous guys feel guilty; I have plenty of itty bitty parts rat-holed myself because I couldn't be arsed to put them on  ;D ).

Acrylic clear....      Guys, have a look at what I found. I found a spray!

I wonder....  I'm going to have to snag this and some brushable kind both and get to using those plastic spoons I bought. We'll run some experiments and get down to the science of model building.

EDIT:  Krylon, the brand I'm already using, makes it, too!! Hells bells....    Kinda pricey but with the %40 off coupon.....

I only have the ones on the left, for a regular DC-9.

The stuff for the Firebird, which I don't have. I included this picture for interest anyway. In the instructions for the normal DC-9, the resin parts are highlited in grey I think it was so it's easy to keep them straight.

Previous owner of my kit took out the stuff for the Firebird (aside, oddly, the rail, part #10, that goes on the roof in the middle where a slew of the resin parts attach).

I will likely forego those itty bitty ones about the size of a comma on a printed page but I'm at least getting the stuff that goes on the roof and the larger ones.

Thanks.

I've never heard of that Firebird version before, apparently it's a USN sponsored test aircraft. Veeeeery interesting.

That spray clear looks good, Brad - and if it's the same brand, is probably formulated to go over their other paint .
If not, if you mist on a couple of coats first, it should play nice. Hopefully.
