Decalling this has been a nightmare! Took 45 minutes alone to put the "DHL" thing on the starboard side. Transfers didn't want to come off the backing paper at all and I had to walk the line between wrenching them off and tearing them up both of which occured. I managed to get things back together but it took forever and I kept having to patch things.

Looks like just getting the transfers on will take no less than 3 days but we're on our way! I think all the most difficult ones are accounted for now.

Getting these lines straight on the nose was a pain me arse.   ;D

I took a liberty underneath on the back. This was supposed to be like the front but I decided I'd rather not blow 2 hours making it work so I did this and let it ride. Now it's a what-if!  ;D

Have to say you're a braver man than me, doing all that striping - one is bad enough.
And good work getting them all straight!

Recalcitrant transfers are so annoying.
At least they snuggled down on the glossy surface.

Thanks, Rick! A well fought battle I'm glad to be out of...    I'm hoping the rest will work better. I noticed when I did my patch work that the smaller the piece, the easier it was to dislodge it from the backing so things should ease up a little when I get to the doors and stuff.

Might get back to it here in a bit but I'm going to stop for a little while and paint some on the Tristar so I can get it going again.

So uhhh.... anyone know what that slender bulge just aft the nose gear is??  I know one thing, my kit didn't come with it as a part so I'm considering scratching one up.  :banghead:

Something to do with the lower deck galley on PSA's machines I think.

Very few Tri-Star operators took that option IIRC.

Thank you! It's a must, then. If memory serves, PSA was the only carrier to take the option so only 3 ever existed and then they were very difficult to sell henceforth. I kind of see the logic behind it...  For San Fran to San Diego to LAX and 'round again hauling commuters they didn't see the need for the cargo space and also the ability to "plane" pax (the strong and healthy ones, anyway ;D ) through it was appealing. With all this in mind.. I still haven't given up on the idea of building that lounge as a separate piece...

I'll have to go read through the article again that started all this and see what that thing is just out of curiosity. Doesn't look too difficult to make, at least. I almost missed it!

Similarly the three Court Line Tri-Stars were unique too in that they were the only ones built with the integral air stairs option offered by Lockheed. For some weird reason it deployed from the under-floor baggage area on the starboard side right aft and was a HUGE thing that folded into three or four parts so it would fit under the floor!

Sadly I can't find a pic of it on the Net, but there's one in the definitive Court Line book.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Fascinating!! I bet they were thinking the same thing PSA was; they'd be able to service airport that otherwise wouldn't have the ability to get people onto the plane through the main entrance way.

I very nearly switched to Courtline when I messed up the first round of PSA transfers.

That's putting it mildly  ;)

Fantastic workmanship Brad C

Thanks, y'all!!!  It's even better now.... more transfers are on and it looks pretty "busy" in a good way. This is a neat little model kit!

That said, I've found inaccuracies in the decals. Multiple instances but I'm not going to let it bother me. Also, they somehow got the size of the anti glare patch in front of the windscreen WAY off... it didn't fit no matter what so I had to remove it, cut it up, then put it back on and fill in the gap areas.

Long story short, it was another nightmarish event of putting the transfers on. I worked all the way up to having just .... I think 4 or 6 circles that I'll apply here in a while. I did the smallest ones already so at least that's out of the way and we'll be using up the entire sheet of stuff aside from the extras!

I found something I missed in paint. There's a chrome heated leading edge on the vertical stabalizer. I'll have to mask and paint that on.

So, order for the day on the DC-9:

Paint the chrome edge on the tail.

Finish the decals.

Glue on the wings and engines.

Glue on the gear and doors.

Cut out the resin parts I need, glue them on, and paint them.

Pictures.

Thanks!! And thanks!!  Well, on behalf of Buddy... I've had him since he be held in one hand. He's ~10 years old now and I see him ALL THE TIME but I still think to myself... what a cute doggy! I wish I could have a million. Losing the best dog I ever had, Mimi, has been better because I still have Buddy. I'll never be without at least one canine companion.

The plane and stuff, too.  ;D
