Oh yay, I found it!!

"This thing has stuff from all over. Including a number of parts I can't place, I have gear from a 1/100 scale Nitto 707 (oh, that's where the enginges came from too) the tires are from 1/72 scale Phantom kit. Canopy is a 1/72 Mustang. Fuselage is 1/72 B-58 pod. Wings are from 1/144 Caravelle. Fin is from 1/72 F-15.  Not sure where all the cockpit parts came from. Drop tanks and arrestor hook came from aforemention Phantom kit. "

Thanks dude.  I was thinking they might have been Viggen undercarriage.  They look similar.

Men and women always see colours differently, the female of the species can probably distinguish about 100 times more colour variations than the average male

Men and women see more than just colours differently!

My other half is a graphic designer, Pantone numbers off the top of her head!

What looks like two identical colours to me, she can spot the subtle difference! (She's a freak!)

I get into trouble a lot with this myself when it comes to shades of the same colors. Lots of folks are good at looking at two similar shades of tan, for instance, and can name which is which but I'd likely not be able to tell until after I had been familiar with them for awhile. I see it quite a bit on the model pages on FB... someone will post two similar colors and ask, "So which one should I use in this instance (on a tank or something) and there's always dissenting opinion. Meanwhile, I'm like, "Why bother asking, just pick which one looks the best/closest to you....."  I guess I'm a bit un-refined.

You are most emphatically NOT un-refined !  You are being pragmatic........which sounds much more appropriate.  I'd do exactly the same as you.

When it comes to painting my biggest struggle is usually the scheme*, not the colours; I just look at my paint collection ... OK, this one looks right!

I've seen people let their builds grind to a halt over two slightly different shades of the same color. lol    Not that I haven't had to REDO a paint job because the colors just "weren't right" or that that I had to wait a couple days to get a color I simple don't own in my collection but if it's down to confusion around colors I already DO have, I'm going to just pick one and roll out!!! lol     Ever so often it can be problematic but it works far more of the time than it doesn't so why not live boldly?!   ;D

I once used two different producers versions of a colour to try and deliberately show the variation in German standards at the end of WWII. Could I find anyone's  RLM 76 that looked different to anyone else's in the stash ? Could I heck  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

TheChronicOne

Yeah see there!! More variation than many would think. I dealt with this same type of thing with floor tile. Same exact stuff even same exact brand could come out different depending on "run" or "batch" or whatever. Created problems sometimes.   ;D  Factor in different brands? Wooo...  :o

Anyway.... I've been feeling better and have been extremely involved with mowing yards and working lately. Not sure when I'll get back to stuff with models but I think it may come soon.

Day 5 in a row and I'm starting to really drag arse. BUT... for now... I'm all caught up. Might tinker a bit today on the ol' Pluto contraption.

2002?  :o

I can't remember that far back, I was still working then!  ;D

One thing is certain, my typing skills have diminished of late.  ;D ;D ;D

No builds update.... other than that little 30 minutes of work I did about a week ago it's been something like 2-3 weeks since I've done any model stuff. Work stuff has taken over my life and the infinite list of chores ain't going anywhere so I've been chipping away at it all trying to get as much done as possible so that some time in the near future I CAN sit down and work on builds without the guilty nagging feeling that I'm skipping out on more important things.

With all this in mind... I have repaired the yellow truck that broke down...    I even used it at work today. Very good feeling having that out of the way. It was a huge pain the arse but I saved a princely sum not having a mechanic do it and with all the debt I've accumulated I couldn't afford it anyway. So... now I have a truck and a back up truck. What I'll do is use my little Ford Ranger for all the light duty stuff and grocery getting because it is much better on fuel and save the big powerful yellow truck for heavier jobs. Right now what I'm going to do is load yellow up with all the lawn service stuff....   the Ranger is a wee bit small for it. I can't put my weedeater in the cab, for instance, like I can with Yellow and at the end of a long hard day putting that stuff up in my garage is almost too much. So... on the days I have lawns to do I'll use Yellow, and on the days where all I'm doing is picking up trash or just running errands, I'll use the Ranger. Also, the RANGER has AIR CONDITIONING so when the heat wave hits, I'll transition to using it exclusively so I don't fry to death and if something goes wrong, I'll have yellow as a backup.

Right now I'm getting both trucks cleaned up.... they are both akin a pig sty. Also doing a lot of inside chores. Probably going to be rain in a day or two so on THAT day I might get back to working on builds. I still have plenty of inside chores to do but none so important that I can't finally make time for respite and fun. That's important, too. There's never any real free time, but I can FORCE free time every now and then lest I become too overburdened and stressed out again and end up sick from it.

Generally feeling much better, too. Only thing is, my back is still quite messed up from the hospital bed and stuff. Irony... supposed to go there to get better, not feel worse. This has been one of the worst episodes of having my back going out that I've ever had. Closing in on two weeks of it, now... it normally only does this crap for about 4-5 days.

That's that I guess.

Try to take it as easy as you can, bro. I know it's hard and you have to do stuff in order to get paid but better not risk getting burnt out again cause that would be worse, right?
Hope your back gets better soon.
