Old Wombat

Watching the British "Ambulance" show on TV tonight one of the female ambo's said "You know when you were a kid & fell over on the trampoline, & the other kids kept bouncing so you couldn't get up? Yeah, well, that's adult life!"

Not wrong! :banghead:

I can only speak for myself.  But it does seem that everytime I start to get ahead in life something will happen to knock me back.
A man once sang about "venomous fate".  Maybe he had something.

I think i've felt like that was my story for 35 of my 40 years of life but one has to keep on going against the grain.
Family(uncles, aunts, cousins) was big and friendly when i was younger and then when they started doing stupid stuff to my mom and dad, then to me and my brother, who were always seen as the black sheep of the family, i simply shut them off. No mixing whatsoever, (very) distant is the best way for us to be.
Brad, don't let them get you down, and if they do make you fall, stand back up and fight, bro. It's your life and you're in charge of it so, to hell with those who are against you!

Ha!! Good analogy.

Well, today indeed is another day but it looks like it's going to be another trying one.

Yesterday was VERY wack. Probably worse than Friday.

Oh well, let's see how today goes! More lawns and stuff but it rained and rained and rained and everything is wet but I can't just sit here so into the swamp I go. Actually, I'd rather it be like this if it's also cloudy than in the sun and heat.

Not a bad day today! I even bought a model. A 1/72 DH Heron II. $15 plus $10 shipping. Hell why not. I'd been depleting my emergency money anyway. The rest of it will be gone to fuel tomorrow. May as well go for broke and have SOMETHING to show for it.

Today was good! One week GB was extended but I'm going to pass. Still working on it, though... just not today. Had a surprise lawn which I was glad to do. When things are going right, I've found that I'm happiest when I'm out mowing lawns, working, and making money. I'm even considering adding more but this could come back to bite me in July and August when the temp is 111 or something.

Any how.. I might get back to work on my F-86 tomorrow, depending on how the day goes. Right now, I have a ton planned. Also, if anyone calls on me for lawn mowing.. I'm going to jump on it. BUT...if the day goes by without the lawn mowing I might have some energy left by evening so we'll see!

If you'd like it moved to the "normal" thread then let me know

Good to hear about the surprise lawn. I think work is all a matter of balance, most of us are happy when we are busy, but the border line between "busy" and "pushed" is a very fine one. I speak from experience, albeit a long time ago. Hope everything settles down so it's comfortable.

So right about that.... a fine line. Crossing over a tiny margin can have things go from downright enjoyable to assuredly miserable.

Yeah, move it at your leisure. Even with the extended time I don't think I would get it finished anyway. Cutting out the gear bay doors has proven to be a bit more troubling than I imagined and I might even need to cut up some card to stick in there just to have places to glue the actual doors to.

Suicide by lawn?  ;D I'm doing all I can to stack up lawns to mow. I have 4 today and 5 more over the weekend into monday morning. It's really hot and humid but I'm pulling out all the stops and carrying around cold water and towels and stuff so wrap around my neck and stay cool. I have my AC in my truck now, too, so I can cool down for a few minutes when I need to. Temps up in the mid 90s.... not sure how much longer I can keep this up before I have to start getting up at "ungodly-oclock" in the morning....  2:30....3:00AM... stuff like that. I'm trying to stick with my natural sleep/awake schedule and also trying to acclimate to the heat as best I can because if I can do that I can add on work. In fact, I already have... I'm doing..... let's see... either 2 or 3 more this year than last but I lost one so it's more like 1-2 extra but still, I was at or beyond capacity even then. I pretty much need to and have something to mow every day, seven days a week now... barring drought which keeps the grass from growing.. that hit me about 3 weeks ago but as we know it's since been raining like mad and I should be dealing with that rain water "in the system" for at least another 2 weeks until it's either all evaporated, soaked down into the ground, or used up by the plants that drink it.

F*ck all to do with models, but whatever.  ;D

Well... I'll give it a shot, how's this:  I'm trying to figure out how to put nose weight into this F-86... there's really no room for it and the intake is WIDE OPEN all so it would be easily seen.... I don't want to put a piece of card in there, either..... as that would look ridiculous. I might have to just go with a post or something glued to the bottom of the fuselage back behind the main gear.

The real thing had a divider right behind the intake so that the split paths passed either side of the cockpit. Maybe you could do something like that and stuff the weight behind the divider?

I think that's what I did with my FROG version way back when, but I can't really remember I'm afraid.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Far out.... I'll check into it. I bet I could simulate that pretty easily to get things to look right then it's just a matter of getting enough weight in between it and the cockpit tub.

In other news... mowing is going... uhhh... somewhat well? I got feeling really ill for awhile but I'm feeling better now after coming home to take a break for lunch, cool down, and re-hydrate. On that note, I've been keeping track of water intake today and not counting coffee and V-8 juice, I've consumed 150 ounces of water. My water bottles hold 20 ounces a piece and I'm working my way through number 8 at this moment.  ;D   That's a lot... I bet I crack 200.

When trying to keep hydrated plain water is by far the best

Coffee can actually have the opposite effect, and you shouldn't drink to much of it or anything with caffeine in it. Tea isn't as bad, but to much of it can have a few side effects when it's very humid.

I love that stuff!! Best energy drink, too, in many cases. I used to drink a lot of soda but I've replaces 90% of that with just straight water. It's become a "thing" now and I can't be without it. In fact, I'm making a trip today and the main reason why is to buy another mountain of water to stack up to last for the next couple of weeks or so.

Final count yesterday was 210 ounces. Drinking 210 ounces of water after two cups of coffee easily makes up for the caffeine. That's a full 12 pack and then some of the typical half quart size bottles.  I'm not supposed to be out in the heat either, but I do what is necessary and morning coffee is just as vital as the rest of the things I do. If anything, the diuretic I'm on is more detrimental but that's necessary, too, as part of my blood pressure management. Water goes in.... water goes out.  ;D  Hell of a cleanse, though, right? I mean... the body loves it.... get them toxins out.

I was definitely too tired for model stuff yesterday but I'll try again today. I have a mountain of paper work to fill out first, however. I'm trying to take advantage of the PPP loans over here for businesses and I waited too long to make up my mind and now the deadline is in three days. I have JUST enough time to get the stuff filled out and submitted to the bank and hopefully they get it submitted to the government in time.

Buying water?
Can't you drink what comes out of the tap?
Is Oklahoma tap water not potable?
