There's a lot of very interesting history about squabbles over states having access to shipping lanes. I just assume that's the reasoning for it but I'm just guessing. It makes for some fascinating border lines as well.

I have a couple and to be honest I don't notice any difference between them and the skinny ones.

My latest brushes are like that, while they're not more accurate to paint than the straight sided sort I found them more comfortable to hold.

I have a couple and to be honest there's not much difference. I actually prefer the skinny ones for close in detail work, especially with 0/000 brushes and smaller.

Same here Scoot, from back in the day when I could still paint 15mm wargames figures

I rather like the handles. Marginal difference, however. The problem with these are they are "dolla sto" types... like.. 6 of them for 5 dollars. Ferrules be coming loose and the bristles don't hold a point well. Some of the problem with the points could be user error but still.... I can start out using one for detail painting and over time I have to stop using it because the damn bristles spread out.

On that note....  I'd like to invest in a really nice set with a nice range of sizes of detail brushes. Synthetic... if anyone could steer me toward a sure bet then hollat ya boy.


No work done on the F-86. I couldn't get it together and just wound up doing other things. Trying again this evening, though!

I can steer you to a good supplier mate, but they are in the UK. They specialise in supplying makers "seconds" which are high quality and expensive brushes which don't quite come up to the makers rigorous standards and thus they sell them off as seconds. Excellent for what we need them for.  You might find an equivalent supplier over there ?

With brushes you get what you pay for.  They still don't last for ever, but with care and thorough cleaning they will last far, far longer than cheaper options.

I've just given a few of mine a Spa treatment  Let them soak in Deluxe Materials Brush Magic for 30 mins or so and it cleaned up all that "gunk" that tends to gather near the ferrule. As good as new now

This DMBM sounds interesting, too, although sounds as if an ailment when turned into letters. 


No work done today but I HAVE been doing other things to facilitate resuming my builds. I got a bit fed up and exhausted Saturday so today all I did was go do the trash thing, run errands, and return home. I've since spent the day re-organizing and cleaning up this entire room. SO... that helps me get other things together. Once everything is all neat and organized it'll be easier to focus and to work. Won't be long, now, I'm sure. Gotta get this months long week long build finished. 

That's not to say I haven't done ANYTHING model related! I did repairs on two of my already finished builds to repair some things that snapped off.       Gotta love ALL your babies; not just the ones still in progress.

Ah hell!!! I'm already loving this place and it seems shipping over here is pretty reasonable...  I haven't done all my looking yet but I checked their ebay page for giggles and seems shipping across the pond is 5 pounds for a typical "set" of brushes. Man... I spy some synthetic fine point model painting brushes already... It's going to be difficult not to just buy up a bunch of stuff. lol

I've only ever bought from them at a show, so have no experience of their shipping arrangements, however they have been both easy and friendly to deal with at shows.

They do some nice sets which include both "point" and "flat" brushes. Some of the small flat ones can also be very useful for detail painting.
