Yeah! I can understand a road sign but a nuke plant?  Like....  I think they would remove the failed part and have it properly re-galvanized and reinstalled instead of Joe the Flunkie spraying it down with a rattle can. Pretty funny stuff....

Not in Springfield.  Monty Burns counts every penny...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Ha!!!  Yeah I could see him having Homer "repairing" the facility with this stuff. Homer gets ripped from the fumes and falls in the cooling water pool thingy.  ;D

In other news, I'm very close to painting the Duck. I have a tiny bit of sanding to do then I'm gluing on the gear and priming it. Been toying with finishing the PSA Tristar. I just need to clean the dust off of it and then all that is left are the remaining transfers, a clear coat, and then gluing on the gear/doors. Sounds simple but this thing gives me anxiety........

Oh boy.... up to all sorts of things lately. I'll attempt to achieve brevity here and not make yet another long winded post but so much is going on.

Definitely still doing model stuff but it's been brief. Not for bad reasons this time, though, but for good reasons. Suddenly quite busy with paying work again but it's not 105 degrees and it's easier. The contract for picking up trash is expanding once again to include more duties at the shopping center. Damn it's nice... it's the largest one in this entire region, is new, and a fun place to work at. But anyway, I'm somehow slowly evolving into a maintenance man of sorts. Or really, a cleaning lady! Cleaning man, whatever. Going to be sweeping up and vacuming of vacant stores. Also going to get a raise on the stuff I've already been doing. Well, I SHOULD be. I let on that I often go out there more than the required amount and it struck us as something we should be charging for.....    "us" being myself and the landscaping company that hired me in the first place.

I said I Wasn't going to be long winded!  :banghead:

OK, so more stuff. I AM now ready for paint with my Duck. PSR is done for now, everything is glued on that can be, and the paint scheme is locked in. Time to roll.

Another mosquito looking airplane. More pics in the build thread!

Next up....    I said I might go back to Ollie's and snatch up a bunch of that dirt cheap paint; and I did! SOME of it is probably going to gather dust and rarely be used.... but some of it will certainly be useful in the future... stuff like the greens, grey, reds, primer, that acrylic clear (which I set out to buy earlier this year and didn't because it was too expensive) and the black farm stuff looks interesting and I will be testing it out on the Duck.

Periwinkle, dude!

Also looking at model area upgrades. I found these lights. Check this out....... they reminds me of slime lights!   $5 at a place called "5 and Below" and they even come with batteries. They have not only a sturdy (the whole things seem well built and are heavy - a nice surprise) on/off switch but a seperate button for a one minute timer. Stumble through the dark on the way to bed but would appreciate a light to do so? No sweat, it gives you enough time then turns itself off! Bought three. And they are bright as hell. It hurts my eyes looking at it and you go blind for awhile. Guess I should have listened to the warning on the package.

How neat! They even come with slots for hanging on screw heads, double sided tape, and even have strong magnets embedded in the back so you can throw it on a tool box or... whatever.       (Do I sound enough like a shill yet? If not, I can keep going.... )

Finally bought some new kits, too. Although, a bit oddly, I bought some more of things I already have.      More on that in the stash thread.

EDIT:  Damnit! I always forget something!  ;D ;D       Check this out!      I also snagged this at that Five and Below store....   how neat! Two of the blocks even have LED lights to make it glow.  It looks so cool...... reminds me of a DC-9. I built stuff like this out of LEGO when I was a wee lad.

Sure you've got enough paint there ?

Glad to hear works picking up
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

TheChronicOne

Man! The paint.... my rattle can collection has grown to the size that it's starting to become problematic to store.   ;D    But... man.....  at 60-75% off I couldn't pass these up. I bought 4 of the primers... so........    well, some stuff I might not have to buy again for a few years and that's nice.

It gets the creative gears going, too.....   I'm racking my brain to find an application outside of like... a classic hot rod model..... to use things like that glorious plum color.  Not sure what I can do.... maybe some sort of civil craft but I have to be careful so it doesn't turn into a gaudy ridiculous thing.

I'm tempted to go back and get more...  :banghead:

And what's wrong with a gaudy ridiculous thing?  Braniff had several! Let your imagination fly free.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Oh yeah, that's right!!!  I could do something like....  perhaps make a "what-if Branniff was still around?" plane .... like a 787 or something and use the plum color on that  Well, "Gum Drop" or whatever.

A 787 in the Braniff Ultra scheme would look wonderful, it would emphasise the sleekness of the design.

(Good heavens, I never thought I'd say that about a Boeing airliner!  :o)

Right?! That's why I picked that one instead of... say... a Max or perhaps a 777 or something. It's the only "recent" design that actually has some appealing features to it.

I've gotten some things done recently but the image hosting site is having hiccups. I've waited a couple days but it's still busted. They'll fix it soon it enough. Typical, though, because I had a load of stuff for the "whifs found on facebook" page and updates for my MiG. It has been primed and I rolled out with a can of that automotive primer. It is GLORIOUS. I've yet to see how it holds up with an eventual clear coat or two but just going down as is it is really nice. Also, per the cap, it is quite darker than the normal prime I use and this is exactly what I wanted to make my two-tone nightime camo.

Getting the MiG done albeit slowly. (I'm in no hurry, I'm enjoying the not-too-stressful aspect of it).   Thoughts turn to the next thing, however. I think I will go ahead and knock the Tristar out. It's so painfully close to being done. All I lack is putting on the transfers on the engines, wings, and lower half of the fuselage. There are a LOT of them but that's really all it is then I put on the gear and doors and she's done after the last gloss coat. These hanging builds got to go.....

As far as new stuff, I want to get into an idea I had about a year or so ago to smash a T-38 and F-16 together to make an advanced trainer that is more "advanced" than the T-38 itself and to serve as an intermediate step between the Talon and the Viper... perhaps for pilots that are marginally passing elements in the T-38 and might struggle with jumping straight into the Viper. SO..... what I want to so is put the front fuselage and cockpit of a T-38 onto an F-16. Basically the nose and cockpit will be T-38 and from about the leading edges of the wings on back will be Viper.

Will this work? Who the hell knows. I've yet to open up the stuff and take measurements and try to line things up in dry-fit. That will tell the story but if I can get these to work together I think it might make for a pretty neat looking thing.

Might try to find a way to get into the GB, too, but I've been trying to avoid deadlines so who knows....

Putty. Putty and Styrene. Lots of Putty and Styrene.
And a generous dollop of Brute Force and Ignorance...

... well, it works for me... more ignorance than anything else sometimes, but there you go...

Of course YMMV, as is usually the case.

But it sounds like an interesting project. Have fun with that!

Thanks!  It's been nagging at me so I may as well at least open up the kits and have a gander. F-16 is a Monogram(Revell) and the Talon is STARFIX.  ;D :o   It will be my first time having a look at anything Starfix and I'm aware of the reputation so it will be interesting to see what *I* think about it.

You're hacking it into a Whif anyway, so who cares, right?  ;)
