It will be my first time having a look at anything Starfix and I'm aware of the reputation so it will be interesting to see what *I* think about it.

You're hacking it into a Whif anyway, so who cares, right?  ;)

Most Starfix kits are 'Whiffs in Boxes' anyway.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

;D  Ya'll too right and that was what I was thinking..   never going to use it for a T-38, I have the Sword kit for that.... (which is the only one truly "accurate" to any real measure, all the rest are dressed up F-5Bs with innacurate intakes, tip tanks, etc.).   But see... you guys have the real gist of one aspect that I like about innacurate/crappy kits; they are PERFECT for whiffing!  My Skyraider, for instance... I think it was the Airfix and the cockpit was way too far forward (or too far to the rear, I can't remember which) but that afforded the opportunity to use the improper placement of the cockpit as not a detriment, but as a design feature of the updated Skyraider. You know, "The Cockpit was moved for better visibility" blah blah blah.

No real plans today... I don't know how I'm going to go about my evening activities because it sort of depends on how much energy I have left after work today. Yesterday whooped me arse and today might, too... I have a lawn and the trash thing but then there's all the house chores and stuff. Slept like a rock last night and I'm sore and tired today so I know I got a good work out. lol That's good but when the evening rolls around about all I can do is sit and watch tele. PATHETIC.  ;D    (nah, it's alright, I'm thankful that I get to work in a pandemic and .... just period)

Good you still have work, and particularly at this time.

Yeah, the crappier kits generally go for cheap second hand, usually when people get a better kit of the subject and dispose of the less accurate ones- which is great from our point of view.

TheChronicOne

Hell yeah!  Sometimes I'm happy when a new tool comes out not because I want it, but because it should lower the prices of the old stuff.

Ahh....   man..       Just stopping in to mention General Chuck Yeager's passing. My personal aviation hero, I think. He was the first "fly-guy" I really took an interest in and learned about. I read his biography (or was it auto?) when I was young. Such a cool guy!

Yup saw the news re Yeager on this morning's news.

Still he had a good innings as they say, and certainly a full life
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

He certainly got to do and achieve more than the average, alright.

Lots going on. I'll start with some of the interesting things I've seen of late.

Public FB vid of the final flight of a BA 747, in throwback BOAC livery. Just a few days ago. Sad but I think the plane will be saved? Said it was on its way to Wales.

Next up is a post on a model page. This is ol' boys paint mule and he got to sanding on it and we have a Fordite Fighter:

By Nick Muir

Could be interpreted in different ways including one hell of a shiny mirror paint job.

Next up, an old post I have been sitting on quite awhile. I even made a joke post on my own FB using this. That said.... how neat? Future airliner whif toys from the 80s!!!!!!

Photo posted by Keith J Boutcher  "Picked these up on a trip to Denmark back in the mid 80's, an amazing collection of weird and wonderful never were designs with a handful of actual aircraft that made it. Pics to follow if anyone would like to see what's in the pack 👍 And no sniggering at the back."

This next one I've had sitting around since May 5 and I've since lost the ability to get back to the main post it came from but it was spotted at a model show. It's the coolest thing ever and was posted by (I don't think it was built by, just posted by) Michael Luedke and the link I have for it is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1771720973126058/permalink/2372634426368040/  (if anyone might want to go sleuthing). ANYWAY... I've operated these things before and as a lawn service guy I can dig it! I don't know if there is some obscure kit of this (I sort of doubt it) or if it was scratchbuilt (even more nutty!) but here we have a SCAG Z-turn model.

In my own news, I'll be finished with the Duck tomorrow or the next day and then it's on to the next thing. I'm about to investigate the T-16 (or whatever) kitbash T-38/F-16 project and I have my Tristar on deck to get the decals on. Talk is cheap, however. I've ruminated on this stuff before and it gathered dust most times. Oh well, here's hoping!  ;D

BA's main service depot for their 747s was at Cardiff Airport, and I thought that 747 was headed there, but actually it looks like it was landing at St. Athan, just a few miles to the west of Cardiff. That used to be an RAF base but not any more, and Aston Martin have a car factory there these days.  :o

[Later] I checked and it was St Athan where it landed. Bizarrely it had actually taken off from Cardiff where it had been stored, so the flight time can only have been measured in minutes, or even seconds of they'd got a move on!  ;D

And that Annular-Wing Boing-thing looks interesting.
Not sure I'd ever want to leave the ground in one, but there you go...*

*other opinions are available...   ;)

The mower's cool.  Needs a scale Brad C knocking back a beer and a blunt while operating it.   ;)
Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thank you for the detective work!  One thing about 2020 that I dislike is that it is bringing about an even earlier than expected demise of some of these older, most glorious of airplanes and in particular passenger carrying 747s. It's a shame, really. But yaaaaay here come the MAX again.....

Far out!!!!  For that price it better literally mow my lawn though. Holy crap!!!

Yeah I wouldn't be very interested in flying on that thing either.... looks more like a fishing lure than an airliner.  ;D

Damn right it does. That gets the gears to grinding because I had never considered making a scale model of.... MYSELF. lmao     Hmmm.... I bet there are some "figure guys" that have, though!
