I was in Home Bargains this morning and bought 2 x Lindberg 1/72 Jolly Green Giants for £1.99 each.
These were the only 1/72 models in my local store but there were 1/48 F-86 Sabre, F-11 Tiger (Blue Angels), X-3 Stiletto, a 1/32 racing plane and a 1/144 B-1 Lancer
Other stores may have other models.

Wow, what a range, thanks for the heads up

Lindberg kits? At those prices, the value for money might just about break even with the other model kits.

Though for whiffing, they are perfect at that price point

As old as they are (1950s) those 1/48 Lindbergh kits are actually quite accurate in terms of shapes.
The F-86 remains the only mass production F-86A in 1/48, the F11 is the short-nosed
XF11 prototype - nose needs to be lengthened for a production airframe, and the X-3 is the
only game in town for an easily available, and not dear in terms of $$$£££, 1/48 version.

That is about what those kits SHOULD be selling for. Between $15 and $25.00 here, which is insane for a kit whose molding was paid off in the 60s.
Good find, perfect whiffing material.

Cool. For sure perfect whiffing material at an excellent price !

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

When I was a nipper Lindberg meant something special because it was an American kit rather than the standard Airfix or Frog I would get as presents. Still have a soft spot for them for that reason

Had a spin round five local Home Bargains today. Very variable stock and funnily enough, the two biggest, shiniest branches had none at all.

Got the following:

2 x 1/48th Douglas X-3 Stiletto
2 x 1/72nd Heinkel He-100
2 x 1/72nd Schwimmwagen & Kettenkrad
1 x 1/72nd TWO Messerschmitt Me-163 Komets in one box
1 x 1/72nd Dornier Do-335
1 x 1/72nd Henschel HS-129B

Other things I saw but didn't buy:

1/48th Grumman F11-F1 Tiger
1/48th North American F-86A Sabre
1/48th Gloster Gladiator Mk.II
1/48th Vought F4U-5N Corsair
1/72nd Grumman F6F Hellcat
1/72nd Sdkfz 7/1 halftrack with quad 20mm AAA
1/72nd Heinkel He-162
1/72nd Hawker Harrier GR.1
1/72nd North American P-51B Mustang
Dimetrodon dinosaur
Protoceratops dinosaur

If anybody fancies any of that lot, I'd be more than happy to pick some up for you.

Nearest store to me is Orpington, after that Beckton, then Hounslow  :o

Shame as I might have got one or two just for nostalgia's sake.

Interestingly the Home Bargain's website doesn't even know where my postcode is, it thinks I'm in Penge  :banghead: So not sure if I should rely on their store locator

Drew a blank at my two nearest branches.
The staff at both reconed theres no kits due in till nearer xmas. Then I told em I found some the day before in the Greater Manchester area..........................."in that case we might be getting some next week then" was the anwser I got.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.
