Just visited the store that loads in on Monday and they had hardly any today.

Not sure what's going on, but they are filling the store with yards of halloween tat so it might be they're thinning everything else back to make room for it.  :banghead:

Nearest store to me is Orpington, after that Beckton, then Hounslow  :o

Shame as I might have got one or two just for nostalgia's sake.

Interestingly the Home Bargain's website doesn't even know where my postcode is, it thinks I'm in Penge  :banghead: So not sure if I should rely on their store locator

What would you like Chris ?

Well I'd have gone for the Do 335 and Hs 129B

Snagged the HS129B and a He162 for you Chris, not many left at the local shop and the other one had nowt.

Went in three more branches today. None on the shelves, but in the third one I talked to a staff member who told me that they arn't being discontinued, rather they're having a re-arrangement of the stores and the Lindberg kits are going into a new 'Men's Gifts' section. She directed me to a mobile cage where there were a few left: Grey F-11F Tigers, Stillettos and F-86s. I snagged the last Gee-Bee Racer and He-100.

Conclusion? Try again next week folks: the kits may be temporarily in cages in the back room.

If you get a chance to get an He 162 and/or a Me 163 for RAFF-35 could you do that please? I said I'd try to get them for him but I'm having zero luck so far.

Yeah, I've looked in two branches over the last couple of days and come up blanks.  There's another two that I can easily get to and yet another that's driveable but I don't go past often, but I might wait before going.  I had a good look in the toy shelves, but had a quick squizz around the rest of the stores and didn't find anything.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

There are normally three places to look in the store:

1. The Special Bargains section (or whatever it's called) which is right inside the entrance and changes all the time.

2. The toy section. Look through the whole section even if you find some kits because I've seen them split up into several groups before now. If you want the Lindberg dinosaurs, you might find them with the other dinosaur toys instead of the other kits.

3. The crafts section. This doesn't have an overhead sign, but it's always next to the Stationary section.

Now we'll have to check this new Mens' Gifts section, whatever it looks like (havn't seen one set up yet).

The Wooksta!

Bearing in mind that these kits are the sort that the Romans left behind - and more importantly, there's no Spitfires - I'm sitting this one out.

I've still got a couple of the original mould 1/72 Lindbergs in The Loft somewhere. The Do335 and He162 come to mind.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The Wooksta!

The Dornier was out in the 80s under their own label, but the He 162 appeared in a Revell-CEJI box in the late 1980s (as did the Hs 129, Me 163 and He 100).  I got one in Scarborough in August '87.  Enjoyable kit to just build.

Bits for the Bits Box as far as I'm concerned. Mind you it does strike me that it would be funny to give the Racer a couple of machine-guns and put it into RAF markings with Prototype 'P's, thereby making it the GB Gee-Bee...

Actually, since Halloween is coming up, you could paint a big ghost on the plane too, thereby making it the Heeby Jeeby GB Gee-Bee....

Cheers Harold, I was in a bit of a rush at both stores so I might have another look.  It's mostly with a friend in mind, he'd be interested in the 1/48 kits as parts donors.
