...... as is the Orion in that colour.

Erm, it's a Neptune. Orions have four props.

Yeah, just realised my mistake and snuck back in to correct it before anybody realised.

Too late!  D'oh!  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Actually a four engine Neptune, with Orion engines and props, would look pretty good. They wouldn't need those silly looking 'afterthought' jets tagged on either.

Sounds like one for Mr McColm.

A turboprop Neptune would be pretty cool.

Narses2, I bet that was just the color of blue they had laying around.  It didn't look very faded; I would guess it was painted in the last 5 years or so.

Oooh!  I didn't know anyone had done that.

Captain Canada

A turbo 4 engine job would be sweet, that's for sure !

Heck Park Veterans' Memorial, Monroe, Michigan.  Nice park with many memorials, including this Huey and Cobra, an 81mm mortar, and a wall with locals lost in Vietnam.

The view from the car:

Check out the crew:

Nearby is the River Raisin battlefield, a national historic site.  We visited the weekend before Memorial Day weekend, and they were obviously getting ready for a big event on the holiday weekend.  Numerous plaques describe the battle, and there were tents and flags set up.  In a parking lot nearby was another plaque.

Thanks for those, fascinating

Interesting to see historic sites to do with the War of 1812

Yep, they are a bit less common than Civil War, etc.  But living in Ohio, I've seen my share.  I went to school in Toledo and it seemed like we went to Ft. Meigs once a month, so I learned about the War of 1812 pretty early...

The other thing to remember Chris is that over here there's not very much 'western' civilized history. Montreal for instance is celebrating it's 375th birthday this year and most of the eastern seaboard of North America isn't very much older (about 150 years more if you take when Columbus discovered America).  Not like history you can find all over Europe anyway. So any event over here is fresher as it's fairly recent (in the grand scheme of things)

I appreciate that Robert. I well remember taking my Californian friends around my own home town (Croydon) and pointing out buildings which were circa 1450 and the look on their faces, let alone Westminster Abbey  ;D

I think it's just seeing these monuments to the War of 1812 (should that really be 1812-1814 ?) a War hardly anyone in the UK will be aware of and those that are, are only so from a Lonnie Donnegan hit record and a couple of Hollywood Movies  :banghead:

It's a conflict I've always had a fair interest in and it's just so nice to see all these well preserved monuments

Thank's Redfoxxx

I well remember when I visited the UK that that was exactly my reaction when visiting sites that had been around before NZ had been discovered, let alone settled...  :o
