Gotta love the United States Navy.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

"U.S. Navy officials have issued a statement acknowledging that one of its aircraft was used in the drawing of male genitalia in the sky over a county in Washington state.

Officials at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in northwest Washington told KREM 2 that one of their aircraft was used in the skywriting.

"The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable," the officials said in a statement. "

 ;D ;D ;D

I'd make the observation that they were able to keep a good situational awareness, to make the thing "accurate" rather than lopsided or warped (desperately trying not to use the term 'cockeyed' - oh, too late )
I can barely manage to draw accurately sometimes (NOT that sort of thing, I hasten to add!!) so this speaks volumes for their navigation skills... though GPS certainly would have helped.

Seems the further up the ladder they progress, the more 'sense of humour-ectomies' they have.

Cool pics, as always, everyone.

I took it to be a comment on their commander in chief...

Ooops, politics.  In the interest of balance it should be noted that hold my own leaders in equal contempt.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You're not alone there... a lot of us share a similar opinion of our 'Dear Leaders'... and I should leave it at that, I think...  :banghead:

Saw a MiG-21 nose in a small museum in Savannah, Georgia.  And a couple of very old cannons.

I bet the acoustics are weird though.

In Melbourne they have this "Street Piano" thing going on where old upright pianos are dotted around the city for all comers to play.  There is one in the Arts Centre underground car park and last night when most of the cars had gone there was a lady playing something classical on it and the sound was echoing and bouncing and rolling around the space.  It sounded great.

I'd imagine so! It would either add to the cool factor or produce headaches. Only one way to find out...   ;D

The Melbourne car park pianist story is fantastic. I wish we had more artsy-fartsy things like that around here; the whole atmosphere sounds like it was very calming. Moments like that make it seem like time itself slows down.

One had one of those in our local town and people would sit down and tinkle at it, until a placard appeared saying "FOR THE USE OF ACCOMPLISHED PLAYERS ONLY"

I saw two schoolgirls playing a duet after that and then... nothing.  It just sat unused until eventually it was taken away.  Pointless waste of an opportunity to inspire people to try playing music.

How calming it is depends on the pianist and their choice of material.
I fantasise about one day finding Jools Holland sitting there playing boogie woogie.

Among a host of other places in London St Pancras station has about 6 or so pianos dotted around on the Eurostar side and I'm always amazed by just how many accomplished players there are. Can be nice to sit there over a cup of coffee and take 10 minutes out listening.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

We have a properly tuned grand piano in the National Trust property where I volunteer. Anyone is welcome to play. We've had everyone from 6 year old girls studiously picking out Twinkle  twinkle little star  to an elderly gentleman who treated us to an hour and a half of everything from Mozart to Tiger Rag and the Star Wars theme.......all from memory!  When asked, he admitted to having been a professional concert pianist..."but that was a while ago..." It's really soothing to have live music in the background.

I think we've had tanks, etc., in this thread, and I'm sure Captain Canada and others will be interested in seeing this.  M47 at a VFW in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  Photos from May 3, 2018.
