Didn't the Trust LSR car use (a) Lightning engine(s) IRL?

It did, but only one of them.

The later ThrustSSC used two RR Speys to break Mach 1.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Thank you Kit.  I could have googled it but I am by nature bone idle.

First off, thanks for the kind words guys, this one has been percolating away in the back of my brain ever since the LSR group build.

I figure they stripped the guns out because weight is the enemy here, but I didn't sand down the fairings because I didn't think about it in all honesty.

Sorry I fell off the planet again, but I have been working!

On to the proof!

The Mig got a shiny coat of metallic red because it looks awesome and for no other discernable reason.

Then I managed to get some paint on all of them!

Some glamor shots of the mostly finished Mig. The wheel covers were a straight up PITA. Though the Lightning was far worse, as you'll see.

And now Teaser shots of the Starfighter and the Lightning.

And there is still more to come!

They are looking good but is that an armed Scooby Gang in the background?  Please provide details.

Steel Penguin

looks like the Hasslefree armed Scoobys to me.
but the foreground stuff is wonderful, all 3 look fast and purposeful
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

My thoughts exactly!   hehehe

I really like the Ruski-Racer.  FOR RUSSIA!

Thanks again guys! The current plan to finish off the racers is a tagline on the Russian one (I have a friend who is fluent and she gets a kick out of the bizarre things I ask for in translation) some decals for the Western racers, and then seriously pondering inking all three. On the one hand, they would have been freshly painted. On the other hand, panel line delineation. On the third hand, some of the detail is raised, not inscribed, and I'm worried at this point I might make a mess out of it.  We'll see.

There is also a diorama base, and some other bits still under construction. This one might be closer to the wire than appearances currently indicate.  ;)

The Scooby Gang is indeed from Hasslefree, and the updated van you can't see is from Armorcast iirc. I'll be getting to them sometime soonish. I leave them on the desk to remind that they are all base coated so really, it wouldn't take all THAT much to get them done. It has failed spectacularly so far.  ;D

Old Wombat

Knew something wasn't right with the Lightning! :-\

Tail planes! It doesn't have any!

This puts the Lightning at a disadvantage against the other 2, as the tail units can be trimmed (either manually or automatically) to provide the vehicles with better road-holding. :o

I went with what they did for the actual Starfighter they turned into an LSR vehicle and left off the horizontals, since I wasn't going to do it to the Starfighter.  ;D
