Revell circa 1960 ?  Mine is the 1983 reissue (made in China).

I always wanted this combo ,but it was well out of my paper round money.

Some work so far. The cleaning up and sanding down is quite annoying but I think it will turn into quite and impressive piece of plastic....well from a few feet away ;D :-\

Ooooooh, nice. I've never seen that kit out of its box, LOTS of bits there.

Why would it need a radar scanner though, it was a surface-to-surface missile, wasn't it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Indeed it was Kit,not all that successful either.
I think at the time all missile kits had a radar scanner included. Im pretty sure the Lacrosse and Honest John kits had them. There again were talking 50 + years ago.

The transporter does have a" scud " look about dont you think ?

A Scud launcher as 'economised' by a US Finance Dept.  ;D

Some early surface-to-surface missile systems used to track the missile and send guidance signals to it for as long as they could after launch in order to make it more accurate. Some unguided multiple rocket systems do something similar: they fire one rocket, track it, see where it goes, correct the aim, and then fire the rest.

I have the Honest John kit.  It doesn't have a radar scanner as it is basically just the transporter truck with the missile in a big crate.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I shall always think of the Corporal as the top half of the V2-Corporal pair for Project Bumper in the late 40s, early 50s rather than an artillery missile.

What scale is the Corporal kit? There's a variety of V2s available so that might actually be buildable.

I always wanted the Atomic Cannon.  The local shop had one in at Christmas time when I was 9 and I saved and saved.  When I had enough it was gone!   :banghead:

I didnt think to mention that there were other missile kits besides Revells. My apologies for my sweeping statement, for me it was 50+ years ago.

Weaver,I had considered painting the actual missile in a V2 splinter type camo. Any suggestions?

NARSES2

I don't think I've seen that kit before.

Didn't Dinky or Corgi do various die cast missiles ? I seem to remember a couple in the collection

A bit of an update.  I spent most of my modelling time trying to find out more info on the various  missile boxings of the 50/60s. My Renwall and Revell Lacross were so far in the back of the loft I spent time in Narnia !!.  :banghead: :banghead:Zenrat was on the whole correct,as most of the kits I turned up didnt have radar units ,but many had fire control boxes . Just shows how the old and older get confused...(have I had me tea?) :-\

Im going to finish this OOB with the white missile, although Im thinking after Ive taken pics Ill repaint in the V2 scheme. (Weaver your mission should you choose to except is...send me the colours )
