Looks good, but please, show us pics of it painted in the V-2 scheme!

Well I've sat here wondering why it's my mission to provide the colours for three days, having completely forgotten my earlier post about V2s.  :banghead: I am sure that I've had my tea though. I remember it: it was yesterday. Having said that, I didn't actually say that I'd got any V2 kits, just that they were available, so that was a huge presumption on your part which fortunately proved to be entirely correct.

First up, we have Revell's offering, in the ever-popular 1/69th scale which is usefully common to all Revell V2 kits:

And nextly and lastly, Pegasus's kit in 1/48th scale and bullet-proof plastic that's so thick it might actually do more damage than a real V2 if you dropped it on London:

Off topic, but I had to show you the 'additional stickers that are provided for fun' for you to 'place were desired'. Just let the authenticity wash over you...

If any of these are beyond the capabilities of the optical devices with 'Robinson's' stamped on the bottom that you insist on referring to as spectacles, then let me know, because the original scans are much bigger.

Did the Wehrmacht really go to some lengths to paint the V-2s in such a complex scheme for the short time they'd be visible to PR flights before launch?

Or were they just sprayed some overall RLM green colour, perhaps Raketengrun 01?  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I wouldn't be vastly surprised to learn that one or two V2s were painted in the complex scheme just before Herr Reichs-Fuhrer and his entourage  arrived for a demo..........the military mentality is pretty much the same everywhere and everywhen.

Interestingly, the Revell box art shows the missile in a much simpler overall green colour with 'normal' camouflage patterns oversprayed in brown.

Takes a bit of cleaning up,but for a 50 year old kit it stands the test of time. Most probably too simplistic and not accurate enough for the " young turks" of today. Its a great nostalgia build for me and after Weavers V2 colours could be quite impressive in the WIF cabinet.

I'm just dying to see how you incorporate the iron crosses and sharkmouth....

The eyes & shark mouth look perfect as positioned on the sheet, to me! ;D

I know right? I mean, if you looked up and saw a V2 coming down on you and it had that face on the front of it, it would definitely cheer you up a bit.

Even more so if it had "Big Stroke"* written on it in German.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

A bit like seeing " happy birthday adolf" on a 2000 pounder ...lol

A small aside, perhaps a repaint of this old "Mace" build would suit the scheme better............................just thinking aloud. ( I know I have been told about that before :-\)
