Cool, glad it's useful!  Nice shots.

There are now more than 4500 gate guards, etc., on the map. 1640 museums.  Still growing, slowly.

reddfoxx

Captain Canada, can I use those shots on the map, and maybe share the 26 in the Warbird Civvies group on Facebook?

Somewhere on I80 between Lincoln and Omaha I think, there's an F-105 on a plynth.

It's an F-105D (BuNo 61-0069) belonging to the SAC Museum at Ashland. https://sacmuseum.org/what-to-see/aircraft/f-105-thunderchief/

Cool.  And thanks- I had forgotten to add their website to the map.

I've just seen the overhead view on Google Earth. They have a Vulcan parked in the corner of the site. The very large site. Those two hangars are Eee-nooorr-MOUS!
The inside views are amazing - this site is definitely on my bucket list!

Cool. I was planning on stopping at a few places on my drive home, but figured with the heavy truck I'd better stay out of tourist mode and save that for the next time I'm in a car or pick-up.

Added the memorial, Nick- thanks!  And it's a small world- the photos on that link are by a Facebook friend of mine, Richard Flagg, who runs several very interesting FB groups on wrecks and relics, memorials, airfields, etc.  I'll gather up the group names if anyone is interested.

Wish I had know it was that close to the highway ! Next time. I can't for the life of me find the 105 on the map tho ?

If it's associated with a museum I generally don't make a separate entry.  I'll check it out; if it's pretty far away I'll add it.

Edit: it's down the road a mile or two.  Added to the map.  At 41.03883743N 96.29323578W north of the river; not near any cross street.

Captain Canada

OK thanks ! Ya it was in the middle of nowhere like some farmer flew them in Vietnam or something lol

I'm the sort of guy who would slam the brakes on and pull over to take a photo of that. I wouldn't be the first either - look at the skidmarks on Google Streetview!

I was thinking the name sounded familiar so I looked him up. He knows a couple of my other friends in the bunker/underground community. Small world indeed!
