It's becoming an increasingly difficult challenge:  "Can you find a museum/memorial that Reddfoxx DOES'T know about?!"

Challenge ACCEPTED!  ;D

Ha!  It does feel like that sometimes.  But there are some out there.  I feel like very few museums are not on the map, a few hundred display planes, and probably thousands of memorials/markers.  I appreciate any you post, and check them out as soon as I can.

I'm glad it's useful.  I am currently going back through gate guards to make sure they are still there.  I have some memorial websites to go through next.

Montreal Aviation Museum has a new web site, old link goes to some gambling site.

What we used to get as kids was WWII era wrecks being dug up a lot as bomb sites were developed, I live in an area that had a lot of BoB airfields around it and took a hammering during the Blitz and then the V1 assault. My memories are not of the aircraft themselves but the respect that was paid, regardless of nationality, if the body of the pilot or any crew were involved.

Updated the Montreal site, thanks.  They seem to get changed occasionally.  Domains expire, whatever, they turn bad.

At 52.195982, -1.050121 there is a plaque, with a Handley Page Heyford on it, commemorating the first experiments with radar.

Mind you, the did pick the aircraft with the LARGEST possible radar return area! Stealthy the Heyford WASN'T!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yes, but in 1935 it would have been theoretical as even if the German's had been seen as the most likely enemy, and I'm not sure they were until 1936/1937, then any possible target would have been large and probably ungainly and it would have had to have crossed the Northe Sea from bases in Germany.

So pick a large target, show your system works and refine it

Interestingly, as every armed force has to plan to defend a nation against a specific enemy in order to justify the money spent on it, the theoretical enemy post 1919 was probably France and they probably reciprocated the compliment  ;) until the rise of Mussolini.

Tornado XZ630 has left RAF Halton, which is due to close in 2027. The gate guard is going to Morayvia museum for refurbishing and display.

Thanks, updated!

I am disappointed- we're going to North Carolina tomorrow and there are two map sites very nearby, but the museum is closed for the season and the other is a group of training aids on a Marine base, so inaccessible.  Ah, well.
