Well, there's an 88 and an SA-2 at the USAF museum...

Dayton, right? I would looove to visit but going to Dayton may as well be boarding a rocket ship to a new planet in my world. I'm pretty much stuck in SW Oklahoma for the time being.  ;D

We have a world class air show that comes to Altus every two years and that's just 60 miles a way and even that has been out of the possibility for years. I hope to go this year.. but...  I have to do some things to my truck first so that I'm not scared to leave the county in it.

I know that feeling; at least, I have known it plenty.  You just do what you can.

Get to Dayton some day, you really will love it.  A day or more at Wright-Patt, then there are some Wright Bros sites nearby, the Waco Museum just up the road, and a Packard museum back in Dayton with cool cars and a few aircraft engines.

Something different.
Dromana Drive-In has a half scale (ish) X-Wing on the roof of the ticket koisk.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I have the Enterprise at Vulcan on the map, and also an X-Wing somewhere else (the pic shows it in a built-up area.)  Added the Dromana one, thanks.  Glad to see there are still drive-ins in Australia!  They are getting very rare up here.  My city has a dual-screen one; we went a few years ago and it stays busy, but I'm sad all the others are gone.

There are two drive-ins within convenient driving distance of us.  Dromana is a 15 minute drive,  is open all year round,  has three screens (plus a fourth set up as a "deck chair cinema") and a superb diner.  It could do with resurfacing but I can't see that ever happening.
We go, on average, every couple of months.

Woo boy, that does sound like a really delightful time. It would be worth a trip up there for sure!

The only thing coming close to that level that I've seen is the museum down at Eglin in Ft. Walton Beach/Destin Area but that was nearly 20 years ago and I don't remember much.... but I do remember it was one hell of a glorious place.

When I was a wee lad around... ohhhhh..... 8 or 9 years old we went to Colorad Springs and I got to see some of the stuff at the AF Academny and my God what a stunning PLACE and as well as PLACE at the PLACE. What I mean is the AF Academy and neat stuff they have is glorious but the geography and scenery of that area is just gorgeous..... Pikes Peak in the distance, beautiful evergreens and mountains, etc.... it's just one beatiful place all around and also worth a trip.

Not heard of the Transland Ag-2 before and I love Ag aircraft so had to look it up, wow it has LOT'S of dihedral! :o
When I worked for an aircraft engineering company one of the guys - the other young bloke - went down to help Hallett out for a day. He was telling me about the Ag-2 but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what he was describing! And I thought I was a fan! The wings are so thick because they have spray tanks built in.

Can I use the 102 pic, you mean?  Nope, Maps only takes them if they're bigger than 100kb, strangely enough.  But thanks!

There are now more than 2500 sites on the map!  2504 at the moment: 1368 museums, 1016 gate guards and air parks, and 120 other sites (including memorials, planes re-purposed as restaurants, etc.)  I think the museums have about topped out; I'll be surprised if there are more than 1400 in the world.  Gate guards are everywhere, so that section keeps growing.

Nice!! A worthy milestone.

I saw some stuff on public television a couple weeks ago... something about museums and I noticed a couple had aviation exhibits but the names of the museums wouldn't indicate that they had anything to do with aviation.  They're probably already listed but if I can find this information again I'll see if anything can be added.

Keep up the good work!
