Wow, that poor Vigilante- never thought a Vigilante could look bad...

Could be worse! At least with all the paint it is somewhat weatherproofed..?  Eh... I dunno... reaching for something here. .. .  ;D

...Ruminating on a grafitti paint job for a whif but....  sounds like a nightmare.

I'll put something on my blog you might like.  Or not...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Wow, that's... different.  Looks like a planned "artistic" paint job, perhaps by the resort that seems to have taken over that area.  Found it and added to the map, thanks!

TheChronicOne

You're welcome! It's getting more difficult to help out as you go along so it makes my day when I actually DO find something.

I agree, the paint on there isn't random enough to be common vandalism so I was thinking the same thing you were and that somone did it on purpose.

Me, I would have painted it up in Soviet VVS stuff just to confuse people.

Ha!

And I appreciate any help.  You guys have made it easy for me to find quite a few things.

I think we have all the museums in the world- 1435 or so, and just trickling in anymore. But there are lots of gate guards out there.  I have my resources, lists, etc., but it will take years to add them all.

Added, thanks!  That seems like a reasonable price.  To me- my wife might disagree...

Came past Middle Wallop last week and spotted a set of gate guardians just inside the base entrance. Research says it's a trio consisting of a Lynx XZ184, Scout XT638 and Sioux XT827. Auster AOP9 WZ724 and Gazelle XZ346 on the left side of the entrance. Quite appropriate as it is the home of Army Flying!

We can expect a few more Lynx gate guards as they are being withdrawn from British Army service.

There's a really good museum at Middle Wallop too, complete with 'new build' Airspeed Horsa gliders!

The cafĂ©/restaurant is one of the best as well, with views of the flying on the airfield as you sip your coffee and enjoy your fruit cake.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Had the museum, added the gate guards.  Thanks, folks!

A little sad about the Lynx.  And feeling old- I remember when they entered service...

Me to, I remember when it was considered state of the art. Was it really that long ago ?  :-\

There's a desert pink** Landrover inside the security barrier at the SAS lines at Credenhill (Hereford).  You can just see it as you drive past, but any sort of photography is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

**SAS Landrover pink colour is (according to one of my acquaintances who is stationed at Credenhill) identical to the Laura Ashley shade "Dusty Rose Pink" so there's a colour match for modellers.

Salt6: nice finds!  I had the airpark at Vance but missed the 26.

Rheged: I can't find the Landrover; Google Earth images for the base are old.  I had hoped to at least tweak the "no photos" rule by taking one from above...

A friend pointed out that the Lynx is being replaced by the Wildcat, a very much developed Lynx.  So, in a way, not completely retiring...

So who got there first ? The Boy's from Hereford or Ms Ashley ? And if the latter the mind boggles  ;)

Yes it does look like an angular Lynx. When I first saw it I thought, "why give it a different name ?"
