Turbo-prop aerobatic teams are an anathema to the genre, they just don't have the presence of a jet team.

But by the time the RAF really start to think about replacing the Red's mounts it won't be worth the effort as air shows will either have been totally banned by the powers that be or they'll have been so restricted that slow speed flypasts will be the only things that are allowed.

Me cynical? You bet!  :banghead:

Actually, the PC-9/PC-21s of the Roulettes (of the RAAF) are quite interesting to watch.  Being slower, their routines are more immediate to the viewer than jet aerobatic routines IMHO.

How about if they painted the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight red and used them?

Maybe true. But the way things are going at the MOD these days it will either be Turboprops or a dimond nine of Microlites.

Ironic isnt it? A developement of the PC9 is replaceing the type it lost out to last time around.

The PC9 was the the prefered choice of the aircrews. While the Tucarno was the the prefered choice of the RAF's engineers.

My money is on the BAe/Pilatus PC-21, but as I said a few posts back, I do not like that idea.

thought the tucano replacement was decided as the T6

But why not Hawk T.2s sans some mission kit?  Good for BAe (keeps the line open for a while longer, boosts the Lancashire economy), good for continued Hawk exports.
