I rather like #1 & #3 triangular designs, although I thought a blue & red halved triangle (left/right or right/left) with a gold (yellow) crucifix centred would look pretty neat, too.

Hey that does sound cool. For posterity, I'd like to make that in MSpaint and add it here.  It would be a new twist on the roundel, for sure.  :D

Having more fun doing these roundels sometimes than working on them models.   ;) ;D ;D  I want to make more and I have tons of ideas. I think I might make another thread to contain them all or something.  Anyway, next bunch. Different iterations using simple crosses.

Painted the bottom.  Had to achieve the proper color by mixing three different blues.  The one I was going to use was just too light for my taste.

I also painted the canopy. Did it all by hand and didn't mangle it too badly!  I can say one thing, using a fine point brush is better than toothpicks.. . ;D

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, you can see my scratch built radiator intake thingy there which I think turned out quite alright. I could have refined it more but this thing will be sitting on a shelf for 99.999999% of it's life where it's sort of hard to see anyway so I'm good with it!

I'll let the paint dry on all this (and the pilot, I've been painting him, too) then it will be ready to mask for the top color.

I quite like the black bordered trianglel ( ), near the top on the right, although I think the cross could be slightly larger & about double the line thickness.

  There we go!

In other news, I masked and painted this bad boy last night and I'm about ready to remove the tape and see what we have.... cross your fingers.

Yay free weathering!   :o ;D

All kinds of jacked up but I dig it because I want to try to up my weathering game with this one. The war with the Vampires has been long and arduous. ..

Weathered the piss out of it. I'll do a little bit more but I need to get the decals down first so done for now with it. I started scratching up my vial bombs of holy water last night.. I guess that will be next. I still need to let the white paint dry up a bit more before I put on a coat of gloss. I can decal on to the white as it is, but not the blue, so I've no choice but to gloss it.

Anyway.... here's my weathering. I really don't know what the hell I'm doing but I think I like most of it. I want a heavily weathered look to give this thing the look of a well used fighter in a hellish uphill war.

Scratch built the vials of holy water and finished painting the lil buddy.

On the list of things I never thought I'd see in my life, scratch-built Holy Water vial bombs are like waaaaaay up there. :)
Thanks!

I wanted a rack of 4 for each wing to look sort of like the WWII rocket set ups but the weight became a factor and also space on the wings. I didn't want to stick these near the tips and the control surfaces and gear left me with very little room closer to the fuselage so 4 in total it is!  Glad you like 'em!  It took the Vatican awhile to switch from regular ordinance to stuff like this but desperate times call for desperate measures. Vampires being undead and all... so this thing drops water and shoots silver bullets.

  There we go!

Perfect!

Thanks everyone!  I'm going to add an olive anti glare strip on the nose/fuse then it's off for gloss then sits a few days.

I'm going to grab some used motor oil and actual ashes to grind up to use in place of pastels. I'm trying my best on this weathering stuff but pretty much every tutorial or how to I look at involves things I simply don't have and can't afford to purchase so I'm just going to trial and error it all and hope for the best.
