While I have these in my copy and paste ... thing.. I figured I'd drop them here.

1/72 Spitfire and Zero that I did as either a 10 or 11 year old little boy a good 25 years or more ago.. Hand painted them with acrylics and such. This was back in the day before I realized you were even supposed to paint canopy frames or fill in seams.  For little kid builds I think these turned out pretty nice.  ;D

I'm getting behind! Not so busy now so I'll update. I actually got this done over a week ago.. last year in fact (lol).  Dec 28th I was done.. but anyway.

Good ol' Romulan Warbird in 1:2500 by AMT/Polar Lights. Done in historically accurate attire.

I am surprised by the 2 missiles on your U-2. I thought the U-2 was a recon plane. No? Or maybe, sent missiles do activate the electronic defense of the enemy, which is recorded by the electronic recon U-2. ?

Quite correct, my friend! Recon and expirements and stuff..  I just wanted to see what one camouflaged would look like! I figured if I were to give it this paint job, that I should also have a "story" with it and make it somewhat plausible in the time frame that the camo existed. So, I figured, "what if they made one into an interceptor?"  With all that in mind, I put the camo on and I hung a couple of air to air missiles on there.   ;D

War monger stuff so I understand if you don't like it. That's completely fine.

Perhaps if I can get my hands on another kit, I will build it completely civil with a cool paint job?     Maybe throw some booms on it?

Ahem, your love of war is not a crime, officially, and if moreover you invent a new twin-boomer you will be completely forgiven, he-he-he... ;)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Neat to see the old stuff you have built. The war kite looks awesome ! My favourite U-2 ever !

Gllllorious!!   ;D ;D ;D

I wouldn't mind making another or 4 of these but I want them to be in 1/72 next time, this thing is just too big...    :o ;D

You know, actually, one of these with her long wings probably WOULD look really neat with twin booms.  ;)

U2 works well

Thanks, fellas!  It takes premier status in my collection right now, it really turned out well. It actually looks like a "worthy opponent" sitting there on the shelf.

Oh, and more "kid builds" to come! Those two right there came in a testors set with two others.. a Hellcat and a 109 (that I still have).  I also have some other planes...   nothing fancy but I have an A-10, F/A-18, F-16 and some other stuff I'm forgetting. I didn't trash ALL my builds back then...  ;)

The Russian U-2 is a twin-boomer... and available at 1/72 scale... http://www.anigrand.com/AA2073_M-17.htm  ;)

Wow! I love that!! So cool...      it looks like an overgrown DH Vampire.   ;D   The beauty of this is I don't have to do any of the sawing and putty stuff. I have no experience in this with the exception of a nose piece.

I decided to build a kit for use as a test bed in order to try paint schemes and see how various paints, varnishes, and the like interact with each other.

I made a lot of the parts out of random garbage laying around the house and the props and canopy and section adjoining were made to be able to placed on and off the aircraft quickly for the sake of picture taking.

This is the first iteration of what I hope will be many liveries to be showcased on this bird.

Build here, pages 20-23 and all corresponding ruminations. http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,42778.285.html

Like I said, this is for testing stuff, so we'll be seeing it again and gain with a bunch of different schemes. Maybe I'll refine some of my lousy scratch building along the way, we'll see.
