Harrier intakes

I recently spent some time fiddling with the intakes on a Harrier model. They didn't look right to me: the intakes supplied were just a single sheet of plastic, bent to form half a cylinder.
The few photos I have, suggest that the actual intakes are double-walled: the outside wall is cylindrical, the inside wall is a complex curve leading to the compressor face. I tried to replicate this on the model, and the result is below. Then I got another Harrier kit, and that one has the single-walled intakes as well. Am I crazy, or are those models inaccurate (not that I'd be surprised, nor could I blame Minicraft and Dragon, both are € 5 kits)?

Also if the intakes are double-walled, how do those doors work? They'd open into a dead space?

Teh inlets are double-walled, but each of the blow-in doors has a separate well to open into.
