Spitfire over Korea - USAF PR.19

Seafire FR.XIX in USMC Korea markings.

The PR19?  A high flyer - 'Precursor to the Blackbird' was, I recall, the title of an article that appeared many years ago in Air International, can't recall whether it covered all PR Spits or just the 19.

  A late 50's USAF recce bird in Korea and Japan?  Why not.  But remember, it's a Spitfire - so treat it with respect.  Or else!

Did those RF-51Ds only have the single sideways aimed camera port? I can only see the one, bottom right hand corner of the portside star and bar.

That's nice! The return of the polka dots!  I knew of Vietnam era RF-101 in this style but was not aware of aircraft from the Korean War era. very nice, I like it a lot.

Kit, actually they had one on each side of the aircraft and one underneath.

Perhaps the bright polka dots on the dark background were meant to signify camera flashes given the nature of the craft in question?  The Atomic Coffee has the gears grinding again.

Thanks for that, the one underneath must be a lot neater than the 'photo wart' conversion that I used for my F-6H. That looked as if it was scabbed on as an afterthought.
