Snowtrooper

So now you're making a bomber with Vulcan nose, Valiant fuselage, Victor wings, Vulcan tail, Victor elevators.

Doesn't that leave you enough parts to make two other bombers? Victor nose, Vulcan fuselage, Valiant wings, Victor tail, Valiant elevators; Valiant nose, Victor fuselage, Vulcan wings, Valiant tail (no elevators for being delta-winged)? Hawker Harbinger and Blackburn Behemoth? ;D

It would only work if you could extend the wings!

Hehehehe, dead right, it does.  ;D

And they both sound a good mix of parts too, I even like your choice of names, especially the Behemoth. I could be busy for much of 2017 at this rate, and part of that would be putting up some heavy duty shelves to house my bomber fleet!  :o

And what makes you think I'd miss a chance like that Jim?  ;D

Extending the Valiant's wings should be pretty straightforward............. ;)

Ah! but what are you going to do with the Vulcan's wings?

They work well with the Anigrand Martin SeaMaster and the Mach2 Valiant, even on the Revell Dassault Breguet Br1150.

But ... Shouldn't they have "V" names?

One could be the Vanquish; while the long-winger could be an AWACS or ELINT bird, called the Vigilant? ;)

Might be worth using the remaining bits from the Valiant as a part of a VC5 air liner build.

Yes indeed, the wings and tail might fit a 1/144 767 fuselage, or maybe an A330/340.

There's only the wings left of the Vulcan, and even then there's no nose at all forward of the intakes. Would they be any use to you Lee?

So much for the 767 idea, it's too small a diameter to match the Valiant's fuselage. And neither a 1/144 A330, DC10, or Tri-Star is large enough either. A 747-400 is sort of OK but the tail tapers far too quickly for my requirements on the Vindi.  :banghead: :banghead:

So it's back to basics, I'll space the two parts to the right distance with strips of 40 thou styrene, as below, and then plank the gap in model boat style, before a hefty PSR session.

Another way would be to make a simple round-to-round transition. If you send me the diameters of each end I'll do the development for it Kit

Thanks for the offer Robert, I know the method myself and I've used it in the past, but I rather like the 'model boat' of planking.

It's an offset transition too, as the Valiant's sloped cockpit face starts about 10 mm aft of the joint, but handily lines up nicely with the Vulcan's cockpit face.

I've got the fin attached, after a lot of trouble trying to flatten the platform on the Valiant's tail, and added the extension strips to the front end. With luck I'll jig up the Vulcan nose and glue that on this evening.

The fin will need a lot of PSR to fair it into the fuselage, but that's the essence of Whiffing anyway.

The plan is the latest, fine tuned version, V 4.0 I think!  :o
