Having come down with fever (yes, that sodding liver got infected again), I didn't manage anything yesterday. Rather, I was shaking from chill, having no lust or energy at all. The night was predictably annoying as I don't sleep well when having a fever, the skin and muscles aching and sweating like a Finn in a sauna. Not fun at all.

But strangely, as the day today wore on, and maybe in pure defiance, I somehow gathered guts enough to drag myself to the decalling table, and would you believe:
I. Have. Decalled. THREE. Aircraft today! I can't remember when I did that last.
Next step - some Johnson's to seal in the decals, then adding some antenna and minor stuff and then the matt varnish. Damn - I'm on fire!!

Right. Decal sealing is on, matt varnish is on - but the sodding varnish hade aged! I won't need to take it off, but I will need to add an extra layer of better quality. Most annoying as I was under the impression that I had ditched that old can already. Well, I have now..
...and in the process, I managed to break a pitot tube for the umpteenth time.

And as icing on the cake, a wheel bearing on the Defender gave in on me this morning. Not a biggie in any way, but oh, so annoying. In particular as I'm not really as sprightly as I'd like to be. But it won't replace itself, will it?

Finally Easter. The kids are off from school, but since we've been homeschooling all three of them since December due to the pestilence, it only means that we don't have to chase the youngest on his schoolwork. It's not easy doing school in your own when you're eight.
But he's pretty good most days. And in particular in maths, he's really fast, so this afternoon we managed to get some free time to continue his whif Skyhawk. That was fun. He's built it all by himself and painted most of it, just wanting some edging assistance. And I think it's coming along well.

On other topics, I've actually managed to all but complete a near-RW Jaguar and those other two Anglo-French bombers. Now I'm trying to find a suitable solution for in particular the French load out. That's a little tricky, their GP bombs not being much like the British at all. Worst case, I could get away with US Mk 117s, and maybe even slick Mk 80-series, but I'd rather not.

That broken pitot (on a third model) is half-fixed and I'm still pretty annoyed by my clumsiness when breaking it - again. I'm not entirely convinced I can fix it perfectly this time, but since the rest of that model came out quite well, I really want to try.

But not today. Now, the rest of the family want us to watch a film and slowly go into the weekend. I shall embrace that.

Ebb period again.

Most of you will be aware of my somewhat unstable health status this spring, and over the last few weeks, we've reached a new low level. The latest surgery, almost a month ago, went well but as I was worried over that post-surgery infection that seems to occur to me more often than statistics would allow, I made cunning plans with the surgeon.
But, as anyone being familiar with Von Clausewitz would know, even the best laid out plan will not survive the first contact with the enemy, and over the Easter, I was hit with a rather dramatic infection not only hitting my liver but also a lungsack, resulting in severe pain, massive short of breath and so far three pints of gooey stuff being drained out of my thorax.

As you would guess, this is not something you deal with over your kitchen table, so I've (again) been locked away in hospital, having a two week anniversary here early next week. While being quite painful and really, really tiring, this is obviously also a full stop for any modelling related activities - we'll almost, at least. I have actually, somewhat uncharacteristically continued to watch EBay and even made a few procurements (detailed elsewhere). As I usually find it difficult to add to the pile while being ill, it is a bit strange, but then my catches have all been many years in planning, so maybe more a matter of grabbing them when getting the opportunity than planning a procurement. Also, good catches are a morale booster. At least, that's what I tell the much better half.

Back home, the eight-year-old Skyhawk pilot feels a bit left out to dry as I had to go to the ER on pretty quick notice. While not at all being grumpy, he's continued for as much as he could himself, and I have then asked his mum to add a layer of Johnson or two, protecting the paint job. Then we'll touch up and decal when I get home again.
However, the lad has only flown a little bit, obviously connecting the Skyhawk with me and us working together, hence rather being a bit longing and sad when taking it up. Learning of that was - and is - extremely painful and has caused some significant loss of water here.

But there's not much to do about it. This thorax drain needs to be adjusted (painful) and a second drain inserted to drain my liver (unbelievably painful) and then kept running for anything between a week and three months. Then, heavy antibiotics will finish the bad germs off (hopefully) and then I really need to discuss risk management with my surgeon..

But until then, hanging around here, looking at your ideas, projects one procurements really is a valued pastime.
